According to LifeWay research, 72% of young adults today say they are “really more spiritual than religious.” Yet, 65% also claim to be Christian.
With the majority claiming that they don’t pray, worship, or read their Bible, it seems that these young adults have perhaps a mottled definition of what it means to call themselves Christian. In fact, according to Thom Rainer of LifeWay, “Many are either mushy Christians or Christians in name only. Most are just indifferent.”
While 65% in the study claimed to be Christian, only 50% thought Jesus was the only path to heaven, which is what Jesus said about Himself and His Gospel message, and what his closest disciples also said.
“Spirituality” is ABSOLUTELY WORTHLESS unless it’s supported by sound theology based on the concrete, historical revelation found in the Word of God, the Bible, including the New Testament documents.
The Good News is that everyone can rely completely on what the Bible teaches and can go directly to God by applying those teachings.
As Paul says in 2 Timothy 3:16-17, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
