At the recent ShoWest Convention in Las Vegas Sony Pictures chief Michael Lynton called on theater owners to offer audiences healthier snacks. Movieguide® calls on Mr. Lynton to offer healthier movies.
While Movieguide® commends Sony for movies like CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS and JULIE & JULIA in 2009, but they also offered UNDERWORLD 3, YEAR ONE and FIRED UP, each of which received a -4 (Abhorrent) rating from Movieguide®.
In Matthew 15: 17-20 Jesus said “Don’t you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body? But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man ‘unclean.’ For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. These are what make a man ‘unclean.'”
A moviegoer who eats buttered popcorn may gain weight and their physical health may suffer, but one who feeds a desire to watch murder, adultery and sexual immorality is in danger of something far worse.
If Mr. Lynton would encourage Sony to make nothing but healthy movies, the world would be a better place.
