SHORTBUS

What You Need To Know:

SHORTBUS is an extremely perverted drama that explores the sexual problems of several neurotic New Yorkers. Sofia is a couples therapist who counsels a number of distraught and sexually frustrated couples. Her clients include homosexual couple James and Jamie, who have been together for several years but are becoming disenchanted with their relationship. During a session, Sofia accidentally mentions her own embarrassing problem: she has never had an orgasm. Her clients invite her to a “Shortbus Party,” a celebration of “sexual discovery” in which people talk about sex and participate in large group orgies. As Sofia begins attending these parties, the movie follows the continuing exploits of James and Jamie, as well as her quest to finally have an orgasm.

SHORTBUS opens with some of the most shocking and perverted footage ever captured in a mainstream movie, and the debauchery doesn’t let up until the closing credits. The movie is basically a glossy, gay porn under the guise of an art film. With a strong pagan worldview, in-your-face depictions of homosexual and heterosexual intercourse, and strong foul language, SHORTBUS is an extremely disturbing and dangerous movie. MOVIEGUIDE® advises audiences to avoid this disgusting movie.
