Coral Ridge Ministries is preparing excellent apologetics tools for the 21st Century. Their television documentary, WHO IS THIS JESUS?, was nominated for a John Templeton Foundation Epiphany Prize. This year they’ve produced an excellent successor, called WHAT IF JESUS HAD NEVER BEEN BORN?
Based on the book by D. James Kennedy and Jerry Newcombe, this documentary presents the angry complaints of people like the founder of Planned Parenthood, Margaret Sanger, the notable philosopher Jean Jacques Rousseau, and others about Christianity, and then points out the actual impact that Jesus and His Church has made on civilization. In the program, believers, atheists and even rabbis discuss the tremendous, overwhelming positive impact of Jesus Christ on the world. An Oxford professor points out that modern science is a product of the re-evaluation of the world by the followers of Jesus Christ. A history professor and a rabbi note that hospitals and international aid owe their existence to the influence of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Another Oxford professor points out that Christianity created the phenomenon of the university during the late Middle Ages. The program also documents that modern democratic government would not exist but for Jesus Christ. Of course, the misguided followers of Christ have made mistakes throughout history, but one rabbi says that, on balance, the evidence is so positive and overwhelming that even he is extremely thankful for the Church and its influence on civilization.
Once more, this is a powerful television program that needs to be watched. It’s a great video to give or even to show your non-believing friends. MOVIEGUIDE® recommends it wholeheartedly.
