JACK REACHER: NEVER GO BACK is a well-executed, nicely plotted movie. Sadly, there’s much more foul language than the previous movie. Also, some scenes look like Jack Reacher enjoys inflicting pain on his enemies. The good news is that Reacher is fighting for justice and truth against the forces of greed, corruption and murder. JACK REACHER: NEVER GO BACK is an entertaining movie, but falls short of being uplifting and inspiring. Extreme caution is advised.

JACK REACHER: NEVER GO BACK is a tight, well-executed, nicely plotted heroic action movie with too much foul language and some very cruel violence, even on the part of the hero.
Reacher travels to Washington, D.C. by hitchhiking and bus to thank the female Major Turner for getting him out of a tough spot. Reacher is an ex-major, who won more awards than anyone while in service.
When he gets to Washington, Reacher finds out Major Turner is accused of international espionage, and he’s accused of having a child, Samantha, out of wedlock. When the officer in charge, Col. Morgan, is found dead, the army pins the murder on Reacher.
Of course, he escapes with Major Turner and becomes a wanted fugitive by the army and the villains, led by a vicious assassin hired by a corrupt military contracting company. The assassin is out to take out Turner and eventually make Reacher pay dearly by capturing and doing nasty things to his supposed daughter. The situation worsens until it appears there’s no way out for Reacher, Major Turner and Samantha.
JACK REACHER: NEVER GO BACK is a well-executed, nicely plotted movie. Sadly, there’s a lot more foul language, including taking the Lord’s name in vain, than there was in the previous movie. Also, there are some scenes where it looks like Jack Reacher enjoys inflicting pain on his enemies. The good news is that Reacher never has an affair with Major Turner, and the accusations demeaning his moral character prove to be false. At the heart of the movie, Jack Reacher is fighting for truth, justice and the American way against the forces of greed, corruption and murder.
Tom Cruise does a pretty good job in NEVER GO BACK, but sometimes he lapses into the Robert De Niro syndrome of playing himself, with distant stares, nervous tics and all. The rest of the cast does a very good job, especially Cobie Smulders. The production values are high, and the ending is very emotional. JACK REACHER: NEVER GO BACK is an entertaining movie, but falls short of being uplifting and inspiring.
