Apple Doesn’t Want to Create Lewd TV Shows Like HBO and Netflix

Like Netflix, Amazon and Hulu, Apple is following the trend of creating its own original programming. So far Apple has released a SHARK TANK inspired show called PLANET OF THE APPS, and a spinoff of James Corden’s CARPOOL KARAOKE skit which are available on Apple Music.

According to Bloomberg’s Lucas Shaw, “Every show must be suitable for an Apple Store. Instead of the nudity, raw language and violence that have become staples of many TV shows on cable or streaming services, Apple wants comedies and emotional dramas with broad appeal, such as the NBC hit ‘This Is Us,’”

According to Shaw, Apple CEO Tim Cook pushed off the release of CARPOOL KARAOKE because they had to edit out “foul language and references to vaginal hygiene” from a couple episodes.

In an age when nearly every network is purposefully trying to push the boundaries of what’s acceptable, this is encouraging news for families. Movieguide® will keep tabs on the new Apple programs.

For now, read our review of their program PLANET OF THE APPS.
