4 Things to Love About Producer DeVon Franklin
By Tess Farrand, Associate Content Editor
In celebration of DeVon Franklin’s 42nd birthday, Movieguide® compiled a list of noteworthy things to admire about the Christian producer.
- He’s not ashamed of public prayer or reading the Bible
“For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will the Son of Man also be ashamed when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.” – Mark 8:38 (ESV)
In addition to his role as the President and CEO of Franklin Entertainment, Franklin is a gifted speaker and uses his social media platforms to pray for his followers and people in various circumstances.

Franklin also makes it a priority to dive into the word of God for guidance.
- He’s committed to his marriage
DeVon and his wife, actress Meagan Good (SHAZAM!), married in 2012. The entertainment duo wrote a book called The Wait: A Powerful Practice for Finding the Love of Your Life and the Life You. The book details the value of following God’s desire for romantic relationships, including waiting for physical intimacy until entering the covenant of marriage.
- He makes great faith-based content
Franklin got his start in the business after working with Will Smith and just kept up his good work until he became a full-fledged producer. In recent years, Franklin authored his book Produced by Faith after learning a thing or two about faith-based content in Hollywood.
Some of Franklin’s credits include THE STAR, an animated movie about the birth of Jesus; BREAKTHROUGH, based on a real-life miracle story, and MIRACLES FROM HEAVEN, which stars Jennifer Garner.
- He supports other Christian filmmakers and entertainers.
Hollywood is a competitive industry full of industry hopefuls trying to climb their way to the top. Refreshingly, Franklin openly supports his brothers in sisters in Christ as they release their own content.
For instance, Franklin applauded the Erwin Brothers with their recent flick, I STILL BELIEVE. Franklin has also attended and presented at the Movieguide® Awards, which seeks to encourage like-minded filmmakers in Hollywood to recognize the value of a Christian audience.
