Christian Guitarist Oz Fox Is Trusting Jesus After Intense Seizure

Oz Fox, metal guitarist for the Christian band STRYPER, suffered a seizure on Oct. 22. 

“After having a major seizure tonight, I’m doing better,” Fox shared in a picture with his wife, Annie Lobert. “I appreciate your prayers.”

Lobert credits Fox’s survival to the power of prayer.

“Tonight my heart almost stopped. The love of my life @SirOzFox had a massive seizure. It was one of THE most terrifying moments of my life with him. But all of you prayed! We will pull through no matter what h*ll is coming against us. You better believe it….we have JESUS!” Lobert tweeted. 

This is not the first time Fox dealt with life-threatening seizures.

In 2018, Fox fell during an onstage performance as a result of a seizure. Doctors soon discovered the musician had two tumors in his brain. By August 2019, Fox said the tumors had grown. 

Despite the fear of having another seizure, Fox said he puts his faith in God and thanked his fans for praying for his health. 

“I want to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for lifting me up in your prayers,” Fox wrote on Facebook. “At this time I’m at home on 1500 mgs. of keppra, an anti-seizure medication that calms my brain down and keeps me subdued. It’s hard to do anything physical right now. Even playing guitar is challenging. But I know God has me in his arms. 

“I really could be a lot worse off so I’m thankful to have breath,” Fox continued. “Please lift up my wife. She is carrying a lot now. I love her so much. I don’t know what I’d do without her. I have some visits at UCLA coming up so please keep that lifted up for us. I really want all this resolved so I can get back to what God has called me to do. Thanks for all your love and support.”

Fox, 59,  is expected to undergo brain surgery next month to treat his brain tumors.

STRYPER formed 37 years ago, and since then, became the first overtly Christian metal band to hit mainstream audiences. The band’s name is inspired by the Bible verse Isaiah 53:5, which reads: “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”
