Cowboys Dak Prescott: I Stand by Faith
By Movieguide® Staff
He may have millions of dollars attached to his name after signing a new contract with the Dallas Cowboys, but quarterback Dak Prescott knows his life isn’t about money.
“I just focused on what I could focus on and controlled what I could control and figured that if I did that and was the best individual I could be in every aspect I would manifest what was out there for me. I’m a man that stands by faith and lives by that,” Prescott said in a press conference after signing.
According to Sports Illustrated, Prescott’s new contract sets multiple NFL records:
- $75 million first-year money
- $66 million signing bonus
- Three-year money and guarantee of $126 million
- Four-year money of $160 million
These statistics may be shocking considering Prescott suffered a season-ending injury last fall.
Fans may remember the gruesome injury that forced Prescott to end his season early last year. At the time, Prescott was unsure if he still had a future on the field. Yet the strong Christian knew God was in control of his destiny.
“So even sitting there, holding my leg or whatever on the field, trying to put it back into place, or later on being in the hospital and waking up from surgery, that’s just what God’s thrown at me. If you’ve known my life, if you’ve known my story, whatever circumstance that is, I’m going to take it with a smile and be thankful that God has put me in this position to overcome it, to be an example to others,” Prescott said.
“Through this whole time, I never had any doubt in my mind that I wouldn’t be here,” Prescott continued. “I’m a guy that lives and stands and moves every part of his body off the word ‘faith.’”
