After more than 60 years on the main stage, there aren’t many accomplishments that Dolly Parton hasn’t pursued and achieved. However, the Grammy award-winning country icon and actress announced a new book is in the works.
Parton, 75, revealed that she is joining bestselling writer James Patterson to co-author a new book, “Run, Rose, Run.”
Parton also announced the release of a new album inspired by the book.
“I cannot be more excited about the release of my very first novel #RunRoseRun with @jamespattersonbooks. I also have a new CD to go along with the book, based on its characters and situations,” Parton wrote on Twitter, adding: “I hope you enjoy the book and the songs as much as we’ve enjoyed putting it together.”

Patterson’s website describes the book as a story of a young woman pursuing her music dreams in Nashville, Tennessee.
“She’s a star on the rise, singing about the hard life behind her,” the website reads. “She’s also on the run. Find a future, lose a past. Nashville is where she’s come to claim her destiny. It’s also where the darkness she’s fled might find her. And destroy her.”
Patterson is also excited about the collaboration.
“I am delighted to team up with America’s most beloved superstar, @dollyparton, to bring you Run, Rose, Run a new thriller about a young singer/songwriter on the rise and on the run…and determined to do whatever it takes to survive!” Patterson added on social media.
Parton was awarded Movieguide®’s Grace Prize® during Movieguide®’s Movies That Inspire.
