Texas Right to Life Says State Heartbeat Bill Saves ‘An Estimated 100 Babies Per Day’

According to Texas Right to Life, the number of abortions in Texas continues to decrease following the landmark heartbeat bill that went into effect on Sept. 1.
Research published by the Texas Health and Human Services reported a 60% decrease, with 2,197 abortions in September 2021 and 5,404 in August before legislators passed the bill.

Despite the mainstream narrative that encourages abortion, a recent victory came after Texas passed a strict pro-life bill that outlawed abortions after a detectable heartbeat.
According to the Texas Policy Evaluation Project, the state’s bill had the desired effect, as there was a 38% decrease of abortions in 2020 after Gov. Greg Abbott’s new law.
“We are the first state to be able to enforce a heartbeat bill, and lives are being saved every day because of this work,” John Seago, legislative director for Texas Right to Life, told The New York Times, adding that it is “a phenomenal success for the pro-life movement.”
The pro-life organization claimed that the data proves that the new law saves around 100 unborn lives a day.
“The success of the Texas Heartbeat Act is embodied by every child saved,” Kimberlyn Schwartz, director of media and communication for Texas Right to Life, said. “For over 150 days, our work has saved an estimated 100 babies per day. Our impact is only just beginning as more states seek to replicate our success and as we look to the Mississippi case that could overturn Roe this summer.”
Despite the Biden administration’s attempt to veto the bill, justices of the Supreme Court kept the law intact.
