‘I’m So Blessed’: Alan Jackson Accepts CMA Lifetime Achievement Award
By Movieguide® Contributor
Country star Alan Jackson was honored with the CMA Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s ceremony, shouting out someone very special in his acceptance speech.
Before accepting his award, Jackson got to watch a tribute performance from fellow country stars Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood, Dierks Bentley, and Lainey Wilson.
Jackson also got to perform, coming out to sing his 1991 single “Don’t Rock The Jukebox.”
“I’ve definitely lived the American dream,” Jackson said during his acceptance speech. “And I’m still living that honky-tonk dream, y’all.”
He continued, “As my mama would say, I’m so blessed. I’ve had a great team around me my whole career that have helped me, great songwriters. I’ve been so fortunate to have all that to help me get this far.”
Jackson then took the time to honor someone very special in his life.
“I can’t thank everybody who’s been in my life all these years, but I do have to say thanks to my wife Denise, over there somewhere,” the singer shared. “We started out as teenagers… I’m probably not always the easiest person to love, but she’s been there and helped me through hard times. And we’ve shared great times. The good, the bad, the happy, and the sad, we’ve survived a lot. I just want to thank her because she’s held me up all these years and she’s my best friend. And she gave me a wonderful family over there.”
Movieguide® previously reported on Jackson’s lifetime achievement award:
The Country Music Association has just announced they will be honoring Alan Jackson with this year’s Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award.
Country stars like Carrie Underwood, Dierks Bentley, Jon Pardi, and Lainey Wilson will all be part of the tribute performance for Jackson.
“We are thrilled to honor Alan Jackson this year with the CMA Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award,” said Sarah Trahern, the Country Music Association’s CEO, in a statement.
“A three-time CMA Entertainer of the Year, he is responsible for so many iconic moments in CMA Awards history,” she continued. “Just as Alan has been influenced by many country legends throughout his career, he too has inspired a generation of artists to stay true to the authenticity of country music.”
Trahme continued, “We are so excited to bring Dierks, Jon, Carrie and Lainey together on the CMA Awards stage for what will surely be an incredible and touching tribute to an artist they each deeply admire. Having had the great fortune of working with Alan over the years, I am delighted we are honoring him with this milestone award next month.”
This is not the only big award Jackson picked up this year. CMT gave the country star the Artist of a Lifetime Award earlier this month.
