Hollywood star Anthony Anderson completed his life-long dream by graduating from Howard University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
Anderson posted on his Instagram, photos from his big day and captioned, “To quote Biggie, “IT WAS ALL A DREAM!” Words can’t begin to describe the emotional roller coaster I’m on right now. It’s literally been 30 years in the making.”
In 2020, the university named its fine arts college after Chadwick Boseman passed away.
He continued, “This spring I was finally able to complete the work to graduate from Howard University with a BFA degree from the Chadwick A. Boseman College of Fine Arts!” Anderson said.
“Yesterday was a full circle moment. It’s never too late! Things happen when they’re supposed to happen,” Anderson added.
Anderson recently made an appearance on “The Late Late Show with James Corden.” He mentioned that he finished his junior year of college nearly 30 years ago but because he “ran out of money” he couldn’t finish.
Since Anderson’s career took off and he started a family, Anderson hadn’t thought to go back to college, until his son Nathan was accepted into Howard University four years prior. It was in that moment he was determined to go back and finish what he started.
“I’d like to thank Dr. Wayne Fredrick, Dean Phylicia Rashad, Dean Denise Saunders Thomas and Courtney Bless Long for helping to make this happen for me! It takes a village. Thank you to my son @hotboynatofor inspiring me to return to school to finish my degree after he was accepted into Howard University,” Anderson also wrote.
He concluded the post with a cliffhanger, “This is just the beginning! HU!…”
Following the ceremony Anderson’s sons took him out to celebrate. Anderson captioned that post https://www.instagram.com/p/CdWZ-u7PhDT/, “When my son @hotboynato and his crew of 21 and 22 year olds took me to @brooklynonu to celebrate getting my degree.”
