Miami Heat Guard Gabe Vincent Relies on God Amidst NBA Finals Run

Gabe Vincent’s 23-point run in Game 2 of the NBA Finals single-handedly helped the Miami Heat secure the win. Vincent declared his faith in God as his driving force behind his efforts.

In an interview with Lifestyle Publication Contemporary Approaches, Vincent stated, “I believe in God, and I give thanks to him daily. My grandfather was a pastor in Nigeria, so faith runs deep in my family. It helps to set the foundation and make you have some reference to accountability. It plays a huge part in my life and success.”

Additionally, Vincent wrote, “I’m on a mission and God is my guide,” in his Instagram bio.

Despite Vincent’s NBA Finals berth, his career has been anything but easy. Vincent started his professional career with the Sacramento Kings’ G League team the Stockton Kings. On January 8, 2020, the Miami Heat signed Vincent to a two-year contract. Later in his first G league season with the Heat he was named as the G League Most Improved Player.

When Vincent got the call to the main show he told Andscape that his “belief and persistence” were two main points that attributed to his success. In addition, Vincent was able to focus on the “bigger picture,” realizing that his career was a marathon and not a sprint.

Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra told Andscape, “He openly just embraced that. Then he struggled at times with that because you’re trying to reinvent yourself. Instead of saying this is too tough, let me be me, he’s really grown the last three years. He’s just an incredible winning player.”

The Heat secured the Game 2 win with a 111-108 score on Denver’s home court. No team in the NBA Finals has been able to beat the Denver Nuggets on their home court.
