Tim McGraw Honors Sweet Young Fan
By Movieguide® Contributor
When Berkeley Smith decided to make Tim McGraw a bracelet before attending his concert, she had no idea it would lead to a personal shout-out and a kiss on the hand from the country star.
“I thought I was dreaming,” her dad Mason shared in an interview with Good Morning America. “I look at it as one of my top five memories ever with my daughter. Just that whole weekend, the whole experience, the one-on-one time we got, and then that call-out we got from Tim McGraw. It was pretty incredible.”
Mason explained that Berkeley wanted to make McGraw a bracelet with his daughters’ initials. Mason agreed and suggested they also add his wife, Faith Hill’s, initials.
Before the concert, McGraw walked by and spotted Berkeley and her dad. He stopped to talk, and she gave him the bracelet.
“He looked at it, and he said ‘thank you so much.’ And then he knelt down and gave her a big hug, and he put it on. He said some sweet words like ‘I’m going to wear this all the time.’ And then he gave her some inspirational words right there,” Mason revealed.
During the concert, McGraw stopped the show to share the story behind the bracelet with the crowd.
“My little pal over here, she made this bracelet for me. It’s got my wife and all my daughters’ initials on it, so thank you Berkeley. I appreciate it,” he said. “Remember what I told you earlier, right? Be strong and fierce, right?”
Berkeley probably did not realize quite how special this bracelet was to McGraw. In 2021, McGraw shared with PEOPLE how he and his wife recently became empty nesters.
“It’s inspiring to me to watch them go out on their own and do the things they do,” McGraw told People. “We’ve raised three strong, independent, strong-minded young women. And what I’m most grateful for is just how normal our kids are and how grounded they are and how much they respect themselves and other people. It makes me feel like we’ve done a pretty decent job, especially Mom.”
Movieguide® previously reported on McGraw and Hill:
Country artist Tim McGraw recently shared his perspective on being a father to three girls and how he and his wife, Faith Hill, put parenting ahead of their careers….
McGraw said that they used the constant traveling and performing in their careers to help them teach their children, but they never let that get in the way of being present with their children.
“We tried our best to never be away from them. They were on the road with us, they flew with us. If we had to go to Europe, they went to Europe with us. Whenever we were working, they were with us most of the time,” McGraw said.
McGraw said that even as his daughters grew older, he and Hill made a point to stay involved in their lives.
