‘Join Us In Prayer’: ‘Jesus Calling’ Author Sarah Young In ‘Rapidly Failing’ Health
By Movieguide® Contributor
Sarah Young, author of the popular “Jesus Calling” devotional, is in “rapidly failing” health, according to her publisher.
“We received the hard news that Sarah’s health is rapidly failing,” Thomas Nelson wrote in a social media statement. “We know that Sarah really believes in the power of prayer and prays for her readers every morning. Now, we have the precious privilege to lift up Sarah and her family. Please join us in prayer.”
Young has previously publicly commented on her health issues, including a Lyme disease diagnosis and other related complications.
The writer shared that those health struggles shaped one of her books, “Jesus Today.”
“I am convinced that if I had been healthier I would not have been able to write this book,” Young said in an interview with Publishers Weekly. “It chronicles my journey from discouragement to hope. There seems to be a sense of hopelessness creeping into many people’s mindsets as they look at problems in their lives and in world events. But the hope we can find in the Bible is a sturdy reality — no matter what is happening in our lives or in the world.”
She recently celebrated a major milestone for “Jesus Calling” — the sale of over 45 million copies around the world.
“Publishing ‘Jesus Calling’ was a long, prayer-filled journey,” she said in a statement. “Ever since its publication, I’ve prayed daily for people who are reading ‘Jesus Calling’ or any of my subsequent books. I consider it an amazing privilege and a God-given responsibility to pray for readers.”
In addition to “Jesus Calling” and “Jesus Today,” Young has written “Jesus Always,” “Jesus Lives,” “Dear Jesus,” and “Peace in His Presence,” as well as different editions of “Jesus Calling.”
Please pray for Young as she continues to battle her health issues.
