Jenny Marrs Offers Hope Amid Sorrow in Israel: This World ‘Is Not Our Home’

Jenny Marrs is encouraging others to “hold onto hope” amid dark times.
“There’s been a lot of sorrow in the world the past few days,” she wrote in a recent Instagram post. “I’ve been watching and praying and grieving for the families suffering in Israel. And, I’ve been holding one of our own crew members so close in prayer as we stand by him tangibly. He laid his wife to rest yesterday. A beautiful, young momma tragically gone from this earth way too soon.”
She continued, “I haven’t had any words to fill these squares. I still don’t. I just know that this world is not our home. And, I know that there is so much that I’ll never understand this side of Eternity. And, mostly, I know that there is always a reason to hold onto hope. Always.”
Marrs shared that “despite the heartache and suffering,” there is still good in the world, from “generous neighbors who stop by on their horse to bring your little girl on a trail ride” to “beautiful fall days” and “morning snuggles.”
“I won’t stop praying for my brothers and sisters and I’ll never stop fighting for joy. Joy and sorrow. Hope and suffering. Grace and peace,” Marrs concluded.
Marrs frequently shares powerful messages of faith and hope like this with her fans.
One recent post encouraged followers to “remember God’s faithfulness.”
“I’m not sure who needs to hear this but I do know the battle against fear is as alive and well today as it was for the Israelites all those years ago,” she wrote. “The formula is still the same, friends: Do not be afraid = remember + remember + remember.”
These days, Marrs and husband Dave are hard at work on their hit HGTV show FIXER TO FABULOUS, the show’s Italian spin-off and a new program called SUSTAINABILITY SERIES.
“Sustainability, the word—sometimes, it can feel overwhelming,” she told House Beautiful. “Oh my gosh! What do I have to give up? What do I have to do?” She continued, “But really, it’s about teaching simple things…We have five kids and so obviously, we really want to ensure that we’re teaching them how to care for the natural resources we have here on Earth. We want to make sure we’re taking care of the environment and being good stewards for their future.”

HGTV star Jenny Marrs recently took to social media to reflect on the upcoming year and pray.
“The last handful of years have felt like someone hit the fast-forward button on life,” she wrote in an Instagram post. “The world feels faster and louder than ever before. So many good, good things are happening and there is much joy in the chaos. Even still, on any given day, the onslaught of opinions and expectations and demands of my time are ceaseless. Often, I have to set down my phone, step outside alone and take a deep, cleansing breath.”
Marrs, the star of the renovation show FIXER TO FABULOUS, encouraged followers to set aside time to slow down, pray, and thank God for everyday blessings.
“Each year, I pray for a verse to lead me through the year. And then, out of that verse comes my word for the year. In the past, it’s been words like joy and light and quiet and shield,” she said. “This year, my verse is Psalm 91:1 – ‘Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty’ – and my word is REST.”
