New York Pastor Wants to ‘Cancel’ Halloween With Revival
By Movieguide® Contributor
Pastor Mike Signorelli, who leads V1 Church in New York, recently released his new movie, THE DOMINO REVIVAL, with the hope to take people’s focus off Halloween and onto Jesus.
THE DOMINO REVIVAL “unveils the awe-inspiring power of Jesus Christ. Through compelling Gospel preaching, documented miracles, triumph over despair, and liberation from demons, The Domino Revival captures the essence of spiritual hunger and delivers a profound cinematic experience,” the movie’s website reads.
At the movie’s premiere, the pastor said that if revival can “happen in Asbury,” referencing a weeks-long revival at Asbury College earlier this year, it can happen elsewhere.
“I want to cancel Halloween this year,” Signorelli declared at the premiere.
“I want to light this thing, and let’s just go all out into revival…Let’s cancel Halloween together!” he added.
“I really feel like revival is just putting Jesus at the very center of your whole life,” Julie Signorelli, Mike’s wife, said to The Christian Post at the red carpet premiere. “It’s at the center of your finances. It’s that the center of your time.”
“Revival is disruptive,” she continued. “So anytime you see a revival, you see multiple nights in a row, sometimes whole seasons, years, decades, connected to putting the things of God first. These are not services. This is not emotionalism. It’s when everyone’s family says, ‘You know what, I’m putting the Lord first. And I don’t care if it disrupts my finances, my time, my leisure, my hobbies, my Sabbath, I’m putting Him first.’”
“I’ve been saying revival is going back to the ancient paths,” the pastor added. “It’s going back to the narrow path. We have this fake Christianity. We have this seeker-sensitive, wide road. But it’s a narrow path. It’s holiness. It’s righteousness. It’s surrender. It’s sacrifice.”
After the premiere, Signorelli took to social media: “Words cannot describe the prophetic shift that occurred last night as hundreds of the most powerful ministers of this generation converged in New York City! I’m undone. Seeing the response confirmed the hundreds and hundreds of hours spent meticulously choosing scenes and trying to transmit the mind and will of God to film. I’m convinced that Oct 24th is going to initiate something so massive that the body of Christ is going to transition from losing territory to TAKING TERRITORY AGAIN.”
THE DOMINO REVIVAL is out now, and tickets are available at Fathom Events.
Part of Movieguide®’s review of the documentary reads:
THE DOMINO REVIVAL is a faith-based documentary. The movie centers on its narrator, Mike Signorelli, a New York City pastor who began having outdoor church services during the COVID lockdowns. Mike started connecting with other pastors online, and revival broke out. Each leader’s efforts gained momentum, like an enormous spiritual game of dominoes.
The first half of DOMINO REVIVAL tells its compelling story through fast-paced, intriguing, “talking head” interviews. Mike and the other church leaders recount their efforts spread like wildfire across the internet. The second half switches gears to show videos of the powerful spiritual impact the revival inspired. It shows thousands of people getting baptized in ocean services, and countless more speaking in tongues and expressing themselves in other fascinating ways. The most compelling footage shows people actively being delivered from demonic affliction and suicidal desperation to find new life in Christ. THE DOMINO REVIVAL is crisply edited to keep viewers thoroughly engaged and moved. It discusses some mature themes like depression, suicide, demonic affliction, and society’s moral decline. However, they’re all part of the movie’s powerful Christian, moral uplift.
