How Former BACHELOR Sean Lowe Saved Infant Son’s Life

Catherine Lowe, wife of former THE BACHELOR star Sean Lowe, credits her husband for saving their infant son’s life.

In 2018, the couple’s then 5-month-old son Isaiah developed a bad cough, which ended up being something much worse.

“You know what? Let’s check it out,” Sean told Catherine. “He went to the pediatrician and they were like, ‘You need to go to the E.R. right now.’”

Catherine was at work at the time, “I wasn’t even privy to what was going on,” she told E! News. “My husband didn’t have his phone. He rushed to the E.R. and used someone else’s phone to call me.’”

Isaiah was diagnosed with RSV, which developed into bronchiolitis, leaving him unable to take in enough oxygen.

BewareofRSV.com states, “A baby’s immune system isn’t fully developed when they are born and needs time to grow stronger. RSV may cause collapsed air sacs in the lungs, which leads to more serious breathing issues like severe cough, wheezing, difficulty breathing, or pneumonia.”

The website also indicates that babies are 15 times more likely to be hospitalized with RSV than the flu.

“The whole thing is so traumatic,” recalled Catherine. “And then you see your baby hooked up to all these tubes. This is a child that I’d hold in my arms and breastfeed and now I can’t even really touch him.”

Thankfully, Isaiah recovered and is now a healthy 5-year-old boy.

Catherine and Sean met and became engaged on the seventeenth season of THE BACHELOR in 2013.  Together they share three children: Mia, 3, Isaiah, 5, and Samuel, 6.

Sean reflected on parenthood, saying, “We’re soaking it up. I catch myself a lot, and I don’t want to sound like a super-sentimental dad over here, but I’ll catch myself looking at their sweet, adorable faces and thinking, ‘This isn’t gonna last much longer.’”

Movieguide® previously reported on the Lowes:

In a recent Instagram Q&A, BACHELOR star Sean Lowe recently shared how he’s protected his oldest son, Samuel, over the past couple of months.

“Two months ago, I was checking out a Dicks Sporting Goods in Dallas when a woman came in and said, ‘4 guys are outside trying to steal a truck,’” Lowe shared. “I told Samuel to stay inside, I went outside and found 4 guys in ski masks attempting to steal my truck.”

“Long story short, they didn’t get caught, a witness saw them holding a gun out of the window of their getaway car,” he continued. “I’ve thanked God 1000x for not allowing Samuel and I to walk up on them unknowingly.”
