Brittany Lutz Shares 3 Tips to Feed the ‘Soul and Spirit’

In a recent post, Brittany Lutz, wife of TWILIGHT actor Kellan Lutz, shared a video of the three things she does every day to keep herself focused on Christ.

“As a mom of 2 little ones, I’ve found one of the most challenging things is getting my soul and spirit fed on a daily basis so these are 3 things I do daily that help!,” Lutz shared on Instagram. “Please share if you have anything you’ve found helpful for you!”

The three things that help Lutz feed her soul and spirit are worship music, spoken prayer and reading her Bible or devotional. She elaborated on each step in her post, which showed a video of her in the middle of each daily ritual.

“I like to at least start the mornings with worship music throughout the house but especially in the rooms that we’re in,” she said. “It’s too easy to let my thoughts runaway or put on a kids show and go on autopilot on the days where I’m tired but it’s so important that as mamas we take responsibility and authority over the spiritual atmosphere of our households. What are we allowing in via shows, movies and music?”

She continued to the second tip, spoken prayer: “Praying *out loud* over my family, my marriage, myself, our world etc is such a game changer. As you fold little pants or wash sippy cups, it’s the perfect time to speak blessings over your kids! Acts of service for your family done with a pure heart and good attitude are a sweet aroma to our Father Who gave us these beautiful gifts.”

Lutz recently put this step into practice when her dishwasher broke down for two weeks. She took the time to pray for her family while she hand washed dishes.

“Our words have power- let’s use them!” she said.

She went on, “Having my Bible and/or a devotional visible and accessible is so helpful. When the kids are eating breakfast and laughing with each other or playing for a few minutes without me, I’ll grab my Bible and read a few scriptures. No matter the amount it’s always beneficial to get some Word into your heart.”

“And often the kids will interrupt (in this video Ashtyn said ‘What are you doing mama?’) and I happily share what I’m reading,” Lutz shared. “They’re never a bother and I’m not trying to have ‘quiet time’ in these moments. If my babies need me, I’m there. If I want them to grow up to meet Jesus in a meaningful way, they need to see me spending time with Him. ❤️”

Lutz consistently serves as a beacon for Christ on her social media, podcast and blog. A verse that she highlights in bold on her website is Psalm 9:10, “God will not abandon those who search for Him.” In much of her content, she shows how God is faithful and heals people from brokenness. And her most recent podcast topic is a message of encouragement for those who feel like God is unreachable.

Movieguide® recently reported lessons in motherhood that God taught Lutz:

“He’s shown me one of the great character traits of Jesus was that He was interruptible,” Lutz concluded. “He never berated or chastised someone for needing Him no matter where He was or what He was doing. Our Father God longs for us to come to Him. He doesn’t get annoyed or tell us to come back when He’s ‘done’ with what He’s doing. Same goes for my kids. It’s an act of worship to serve them and I want them to know they can ALWAYS interrupt me.”
