‘Blessed To Be Here’: Rangers Players Celebrate Historic World Series Win

By Movieguide® Contributor

The Texas Rangers just won their first World Series championship with the help of rookies Evan Carter and Josh Jung.

“This is just an unbelievable experience,” Carter told the MLB following their historic win. “What a group of guys to experience it with. I’m blessed to be here. It’s unbelievable.”

Jung was equally thrilled, saying, “I can’t even process all of the emotions. It’s just, ‘Wow, we did it.’”

Both Carter and Jung are Christians, often talking about their faith and how they plan to use their influence as athletes to spread God’s word.

Carter and his wife, Kaylen, partnered with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes to create a “Jesus Won” t-shirt fans could purchase.

“Our mission is to use the platform that baseball has blessed us with to give back to our community in Carter County, TN,” the couple posted on Instagram. “Proceeds from your purchase of a Jesus Won t-shirt will jointly benefit two incredible programs in our community. One being Central Cares, a program from our home Church of Central Community Christian Church, which helps provide for children in impoverished situations. The second will be helping provide an environment for young baseball players in our area to succeed.”

Jung has also spoken about his faith, telling HisHuddle.com, “I gave my life to Christ my freshman year of high school, and then my freshman year of college was the first time I took that step of a personal journey with Him. My three years in college were awesome in many ways, but the thing that really hit home with me are the memories from sharing my story with God to others.”

“Sports aren’t going to last forever,” he said in a separate interview. “Being a baseball player is not gonna last forever, and eventually, your name will fade away. When all that’s over, where is your identity gonna be? Who are you gonna be?”

Movieguide® previously reported on Carter:

Texas Rangers rookie Evan Carter uses his time in the big leagues to be a light for Christ.

The 21-year-old wears a “JESUS WON” T-shirt in interviews and praises God even when he faces setbacks.

“On Sept. 8, ahead of his Major League debut, Carter told reporters he was grateful to God for the opportunity. For that interview and during batting practice, he was wearing a T-shirt proclaiming ‘Jesus Won.’ Carter singled in his first at-bat that day, helping to spark a turnaround for Texas,” Church Leaders reported.

Sports Spectrum observed, “To further express his faith, Carter has a tattoo on his left arm that stands for ‘God is greater than the highs and lows,’ and on his right wrist he often wears an ‘I Am Second’ bracelet.”
