Chris Pratt, Tom Brady Honor Veterans: ‘Protect Our Way of Life’
By Movieguide® Contributor
Actor Chris Pratt, NFL legend Tom Brady and other stars took time to honor our nation’s veterans this Veterans Day.
“Happy Veterans Day! Today, we salute the men and women in uniform who have volunteered to step into harm’s way to protect our way of life,” Pratt wrote on Instagram. “Every nation on Earth has problems, including ours. However, the United States of America, the grand experiment built on the foundation of liberty, justice, and freedom, is as close to perfection today as any country has been in history.”
“Yet, we are still far away,” he continued. “If you want to disagree, you can do so loudly, free from violence or imprisonment. That’s America—the town square where ideas can be shared and debated! Unfortunately, that is not the case around the globe, where dissent is met with violence and imprisonment. Do not take that for granted. It’s each of our civic duty to drive this nation closer to perfection.”
“In my opinion, that starts with showing gratitude to those who paved the way and to those who serve and finding a way to be of service ourselves,” the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY star concluded. “Thank a Veteran today. The freedoms we often take for granted, our shot at the American Dream—we owe it to the valorous acts of warriors in uniform. Don’t forget that. Okay, Dad! We get it!”
Brady shared a photo of himself and an American veteran shaking hands on his Instagram story. He wrote, “Thank you. Happy Veterans Days.”
Among other stars, country musician Blake Shelton wrote on his Instagram story, “Raising a glass to our veterans this weekend…Thank you for your sacrifice and service #VeteransDay.”
Shelton shared his support for veterans last year as well. “There’s not enough words to express how thankful I am for the brave men and women that serve or have served our country. Thank you today and everyday,” he posted on X.
Movieguide® recently reported how Christian artist Danny Gokey honors Veterans Day:
Musician Danny Gokey is sharing how he plans to honor our nation’s veterans this Veterans Day.
“There’s an unbelievable statistic that says 17 veterans commit suicide everyday due to PTSD and depression,” he said in an Instagram post adding in the caption, “But thanks to the activities and camaraderie offered at @blackhorseforge in Fredericksburg, VA, 21,000 veterans have been served, and none have committed suicide!”
Gokey will be visiting Black Horse Forge on November 11, where “we’re going to surprise them with some state-of-the-art tools that will expand what they are doing, even enabling triple amputees to learn blacksmithing and also bless all of the Veterans that day with a BBQ lunch.”
He also let followers know they can “pitch in and say ‘Thank You’ to our American heroes by purchasing one or more meals, you can text Better to 345345 or follow the link in my bio to donate.”
