By Movieguide® Contributor
As anticipation for TROLLS BAND TOGETHER builds, Universal and DreamWorks Animation announced an on-screen special concert premiere of the film.
The purpose is to help the audience feel like they are on stage with Poppy and Branch, and screenings will arrive at exclusive theaters on Nov. 17-19.
According to PR Newswire, “At 100 concert screening events across the U.S. and Canada, audiences at TROLLS BAND TOGETHER: THE CONCERT EXPERIENCE will be given PixMob’s state-of-the-art LED light-up wrist bands, which will illuminate, pulse and change color synchronized to select musical performances in the film. Together, PixMob’s wristbands will create a one-of-a-kind dazzling, joyful light-show concert experience like no other for TROLLS fans everywhere. TROLLS BAND TOGETHER: THE CONCERT EXPERIENCE will be available in all major markets and theater chains.
Justin Pertschuk, Universal Pictures’ Senior Vice President of Digital Marketing, stated, “DreamWorks Animation’s Trolls are all about joy, inclusion, fun and, of course, music. We could think of no better way to celebrate those ideas than by giving Trolls fans the ultimate inclusive, musical concert experience.”
“PixMob’s innovative tech allowed us to create and bring that experience to fans across the U.S. and Canada,” Pertschuk added. “We are thrilled to partner with them for TROLLS BAND TOGETHER, and we can’t wait for audiences to experience this one-of-a-kind concert event.”
Since the movie stars Justin Timberlake as Branch, many fans are wondering if his band NSYNC will make an appearance.
“It would be easy to assume that NSYNC could’ve been reunited to voice Branch’s siblings in the story,” Collider wrote. “However, while Branch’s family isn’t voiced by members of the boy band, their style and legacy are both a part of the world of Trolls. A new song performed by NSYNC can be heard during the credits of the film, meaning that Branch and Timberlake’s boy band pasts merge with one another as part of the third installment in the Trolls franchise.”
The movie earned a +2 content rating from Movieguide®. Part of Movieguide®’s review reads:
TROLLS BAND TOGETHER opens with Queen Poppy finding out that her boyfriend, Branch, was once part of the boy band BroZone with his four brothers, Floyd, John Dory, Spruce, and Clay. Now, years later, two pop singers named Velvet and Veneer who can’t sing have kidnapped Floyd. They have trapped Floyd in a diamond prison that allows them to sap his talent, almost killing him. Branch and Poppy embark on a quest to reunite the four brothers to rescue Floyd. Each brother is involved in a fantastic situation, and each step along the journey involves great songs, many of which are famous.
TROLLS BAND TOGETHER has great music, great character arcs, an impressive amount of love and humor, and a moral theme of not letting anyone steal your talent. The movie also has a heartwarming theme about loving your family. There is a caution for younger children, because there are some scary scenes as well as the death and resurrection of one character, but for children starting at age eight or older, the movie is an absolute delight, and highly recommended.
