Former Disney Star Jordan Fisher Talks ‘Purpose’ Found in Fatherhood

Actor Jordan Fisher recently explained how parenting has changed his life.

“[Fatherhood] is the best, most amazing thing in the world,” Fisher said while on LIVE! WITH KELLY AND MARK. “He’s our best little friend, you know? It’s the most amazing thing – talk about purpose,” he said of his son.

“I think that it’ll be 20 years in January that I’ve been doing [entertainment], and it’s so beautiful, and I’m so grateful for it. But the way of all of it shrinks when that happens,” he continued, comparing acting to parenting. “Every fact of what was important has now shifted. It’s just a whole new dimension of import and of purpose.”

Fisher and his wife Ellie welcomed their son Riley in June 2022.

“[Riley loves] trucks and cars, TANGLED, RAPUNZEL, FINDING NEMO – particularly Marlin and Bruce, the shark. Obviously, Miss Rachel, and Bluey is our best friend,” Fisher said, before bringing his son onstage to sit on his lap for the second half of the interview.

Unsurprisingly for the couple who loves being parents, Fisher admitted that he and his wife plan on having more kids. However, even after Riley has siblings, nothing will come between his special bond with his dad.

Earlier this year, Fisher explained that Riley has a special relationship with his father’s music.

“He has a concentration face. When I’m singing, he looks at me like this and goes…” Fisher told PEOPLE while recreating his son’s expression.

“Then when I’m done, he goes, ‘Yay.’ It’s the sweetest. Riley loves the piano,” the singer continued, adding that Riley enjoys making music too. “He wakes up, and he sings my name in the morning. It’s the cutest thing. It’s like, ‘Daddy, daddy.”

Fisher, however, will allow Riley to choose his own path and won’t force him to follow in his footsteps in the entertainment business.

“I want him and all of our future kids to do whatever they feel called to, whatever that passion is,” Fisher said. “I understand passion, and I’m going to do everything that I can the same way that my wife is. We are going to do everything that we can do with our kids, with opportunity to try, opportunity to search, opportunity to reach, opportunity to fail, opportunity to succeed in whatever it is that they’re doing.”

Fisher and his wife are also quick to post their baby boy on social media, sharing many of the family adventures they have.

“He’s my best friend,” Fisher said about his son. “We have inside jokes now. We have rapport.”

“i can’t believe you’re almost a whole year old. i love being your daday, rileyroo,” he posted on Instagram before his son’s birthday.
