Alexa PenaVega Calls Pregnancy No. 4 ‘The Hardest’ Yet
By Movieguide® Contributor
Actress Alexa PenaVega is opening up about the difficulties she faced during the first trimester of her fourth pregnancy.
“Guys, it’s finally happening, I’m finally starting the pregnancy vlog that I said I would do for a while now,” PenaVega posted on Instagram. “I’m so sorry for the delay; honestly, to be straight up, the first trimester of this pregnancy sucked. Like it was really, really, really hard.”
“This has been probably the hardest pregnancy yet on me, on all of us,” she shared, per Heavy.
Movieguide® reported in November:
“Another (spy) kid in the making!” E! News reported. “The pregnant SPY KIDS star showed off her growing baby bump while wearing a pink bodysuit and a fluffy teal green jacket in photos posted to Instagram Nov. 17.”
“Thank God we love adventures ??? Oh baby here we come! Número cuatro! ? ?,” Alexa shared in a photo of her and Carlos, both of their hands on her baby bump.
“I want to start off this pregnancy vlog as just kinda like an introduction, and then I’ll give you guys a little tidbit, and then I’ll fill you in on everything pregnancy, like where I’m at, throughout like a few videos and then you’ll get caught up,” PenaVega continued.
“…the honeymoon period of that pregnancy lasted for a very short while because I got hit with the worst morning sickness I have ever experienced,” she added. “I just had a really hard time keeping anything down [that] I would try to eat. Everything just seemed gross.”
She explained that the intense morning sickness completely drained her energy, and she wasn’t sure how to solve the problem.
PenaVega tried every solution: ginger, morning sickness lozenges, morning sickness teas and extremely fresh morning sickness herbs from her naturopath. Unfortunately, none of these helped with the nausea, and she was running out of suggestions to try.
“My neuropath’s wife, Hannah, who’s a good friend of mine, she said that when she was pregnant, she had really bad morning sickness, and the one thing that helped her a lot was to never have an empty stomach and to make sure that what you’re putting in your body is just like the easiest stuff, you know,” she explained. “So she had a cereal that she literally kept on her nightstand so that the second she woke up in the morning, she wouldn’t even give her body a chance to get nauseous. She was like immediately eating cereal, and that helped a lot, and like every thirty minutes, she would, like, make sure she was taking little bites.”
“When I started doing that the nausea for me subsided a lot,” PenaVega said. “It wasn’t perfect. It would still come out of nowhere – to the point, you guys, that I would be talking and playing with the kids and just, in the middle of talking, I would have to run to the nearest thing I could find.”
“And God bless these kids, because they could not have been sweeter and more loving just constantly patting me on the back and just asking if I was okay and if the baby was okay,” she continued. “That was really, really beautiful, that was just amazing to see them being loving. Obviously, Carlos was amazing as well, but seeing that from the kids was just that, I don’t know, reassurance of like, okay, we’re doing a good job as parents, they’re good kids. So there was all of that.”
The couple share sons Ocean and Kingston and daughter Rio.
Though she was able to find a solution to the crippling morning sickness, PenaVega’s ordeals were just getting started. Next, she faced a big scare that she plans on revealing during her next pregnancy vlog. However, she gave a sneak peek, sharing that the trial tested her faith as she faced a scary situation that required trusting in God and waiting.
Movieguide® previously reported on PenaVega:
Alexa and Carlos PenaVega already have three kids, but the couple are both ready to welcome another baby into their family.
When an Instagram user asked Alexa if she and her husband “struggle with the idea of having more” little ones, the actress quickly replied, “Nope.”
“The world needs more kids who can be a light to others,” Alexa continued. She did admit that she sometimes “lose[s] her patience” with her kids and that she “absolutely get[s] tested” by them.
“Especially this last week,” Alexa elaborated. “We are living on the boat during a refit. It’s stressful for everyone. Littles included. I’d like to say no I don’t lose it. Or I’m always collected but the truth is I get frustrated. I have moments that I have to apologize for. I’ve always had a more calm approach to things in general so me ‘losing it’ might not ‘look’ so bad but it’s what my hearts feels that I’m not a fan of in the stressful moments.”
