Sight & Sound’s DANIEL Cast Hope Production Encourages Viewers to Trust God
By Movieguide® Contributor
The cast and crew from Sight & Sound Theatre’s DANIEL production recently sat down in an exclusive interview with Movieguide® to discuss what they hope audiences learn from the story.
“I mean, the story speaks for itself,” said Isaac Witt, who plays Nebuchadnezzar. “You know, God is there from curtain up to curtain down and beyond.”
“Taken from his people, Daniel is exiled far from home in the powerful kingdom of Babylon,” a synopsis of the production reads. “Now this faithful servant must navigate his new life inside a palace filled with golden statues and shifting empires. As royal pressures mount, Daniel is faced with a dangerous choice. Will his trust in the one true God remain steadfast through every test of faith?”
“I hope that people see the thread line of God’s faithfulness throughout Daniel’s life,” added Jacob Cummings, who plays Daniel. “God’s faithfulness wasn’t any stronger in the lion’s den or the fiery furnace than it was in all of the moments leading up to those moments. So I think my hope is that people see that they can rely on God in any situation, and the more that we put our faith and our trust in Him, the more that we can lean on Him adversities.”
Director Jeff Bender shared his vision for the production.
“We were starting this was to just kind of take that story and just make it as clear as we possibly could. It was like a thousand-piece puzzle, you know, just sort of putting the pieces together to find that through line…about the kingdoms of this world and the kingdom of God and how they interact,” he explained.
Sight & Sound’s productions are known for their elaborate sets. Bender called DANIEL’s set “by far are the most technically integrated show that we’ve ever done.”
“The way we use our media on LED screens, in conjunction with lighting and special effects, and the set which is, you know, is a 300 foot wraparound stage, it’s really visually stunning,” he added.

DANIEL premiered on March 14 and will run through Dec. 31, 2024.
Movieguide® previously reported on Sight & Sound:
In March 2024, Sight & Sound Theatres will present “Daniel,” “one of its largest productions ever.”
“The wrap-around stage is 300 feet wide — the size of a football field,” Christian Headlines reported.
“We have one big wrap-around city that actually moves and transforms into other parts of the city throughout the show,” said Glen Brodersen, senior technical director for Sight & Sound.
Movieguide® reported last May:
DANIEL will invite audiences into one of the most profound stories from the Old Testament, sharing a message of hope and perseverance. The show will center around Daniel and his friends Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego as they face all the trials found in the book of Daniel including royal pressures, the fiery furnace, and the lion’s den.
Sight & Sound is known for its huge productions that feature live animals, real fire, and larger-than-life displays. Yet this is the first time the theater company will attempt a production of this magnitude.
