More Detail:
IRENA’S VOW follows the true story of a Catholic woman named Irena who protected several Jews during Nazi Germany’s invasion of Poland. A special two-day release, IRENA’S VOW tells a powerful story about a woman of faith who helps save a group of people, but due to its heavy themes, MOVIEGUIDE® suggests this movie is for older audiences, with extreme caution.
Irena is a young Roman Catholic woman who has found out her home has been taken over by a Nazi German soldier. She was working as a nurse, but now must transition to managing a group of Polish tailors. It turns out, that these tailors are actually all Jews who have said they were tailors in order to escape the concentration camps. If they please the soldiers by doing good work on their tailoring, they will be saved.
It’s not long until Irena’s talents are noticed, and she is moved to do housework for a Nazi official, Major Rugemer, in a large estate. At this point, Irena has kept low and followed orders, because she’s seen firsthand that the Nazis enjoy killing people in the streets. In fact, she watched as a Nazi official killed a baby and a mother. From that point, she decides to preserve life, no matter what the cost.
Irena moves into the estate to take care of Major Rugemer. When she walks around the house and searches up and down, she realizes she can bring the group of Jewish tailors to the house and hide them. They all come to the house and find a spot to hide but hiding in a Nazi official’s house is a huge risk.
It’s not long after this that Major Rugemer gets settled in the house that he decides to have parties and host many of the Nazi officials and high ups in the house. Will Irena be able to service the officials and hide the Jews in the house?
