Is BLUEY Ending? What We Know About the Kids’ Show’s Future

The latest episodes of BLUEY had fans in tears and wondering if the hit children’s show was coming to an end.
“The new episode, aptly titled ‘Surprise,’ followed the episode originally billed as the season 3 finale of the Australian animated series, ‘The Sign,’ an extra-long episode that took social media by storm — and left fans of all ages reaching for tissues,” PEOPLE reported.
After “The Sign’s” emotional, social media reception, the latest episode gives an unexpected glimpse into the Heeler family’s future.
“‘Surprise’ ends with a visit from an all-grown-up Bluey, who comes home to visit dad Bandit and mom Chilli (still in their beloved house on the hill!) with a surprise guest: Bluey’s future child, who has very clearly taken after their mom and her antics,” PEOPLE reported.
“For a show that isn’t ending, the last two eps sure FELT like a series finale + epilogue,” wrote one X user.
While the most recent episodes seemed like the end, BLUEY producer Sam Moor confirmed there is more to come from the beloved show.
“No, it is not the end for Bluey. I’m sure we have many more surprises in store for you,” she said. “We have more in store, and we are thinking what would be next.”

These episodes are not only well animated but have top notch storytelling. The characters are all relatable by both children and adults. The entire purpose of each episode is to teach important life lessons for every person. “Ghostbasket” shows how the elderly should be treated. “The Sign” is about trusting in a divine plan even when life doesn’t go your way. Thus, both episodes have strong moral worldviews. “Ghostbasket” and “The Sign” are a delight for children of all ages, including parents and grandparents.
Moor praised her team for their work on the extended episode, as it required more attention than normal.
“The team worked really hard to get that one out. Everybody put all their love and effort into it,” she explained.
Daley Pearson, executive producer of BLUEY, also commented on the longer episode, saying, “I think when we have taken risks, that’s when it’s been the most exciting and I think that’s when the audience has liked it the most as well. So whatever it will be, it will be something that we’re not quite sure if we can do. But we hope we can.”

BLUEY creator Joe Brumm recently revealed the shows that influenced his own popular kids’ series.
“GAVIN AND STACEY was influential in a big way,” Brumm shared, referring to a British sitcom penned by James Corden and Ruth Jones. “I loved how it genuinely crossed generations, like THE SIMPSONS back in the day. I thought: ‘Why shouldn’t a kids’ show make parents laugh too?’ When the time came to do BLUEY, that became the challenge.”
He also pointed to PEPPA PIG, saying he liked how the show is “really English but without cliches or flag-waving.”
“Mr Bull [a character from PEPPA PIG] would be digging up the road and say: ‘It’ll be finished when it’s finished,’” Brumm explained. “There are canal boats and castles in the background. That’s what I wanted my show to do—to feel Australian but not with kangaroos and koalas, just by capturing the fabric of everyday life.”
