Jon Bon Jovi is “Livin’ on a Prayer.”

The American singer and songwriter suffered a vocal cord injury two years ago and underwent surgery, which affected his ability to sing. Now, he is trusting in God with his health and future.

In an interview with Fox News Digital, he shared what healing from the surgery has been like.

“It sucks,” he said. “But, if I put it into comparison to athletes, and when Kobe and the achilles, or Michael Strahan and the pec, Tom Brady with the knee, Tiger Woods preparing for yet another Masters. It doesn’t get any easier for any of those guys.”

He said, “And I know their work ethic and mine are very similar. No one anticipates injury like that. And it’s up to God to fix it or not, but I’m certainly right next to the Lord himself working on it.”

Fox News Digital also shared about an exciting new project that the singer and his bandmates have planned.

“The band Bon Jovi celebrates their 40th anniversary as a band this year. To mark the historical accomplishment, the band teamed up with Hulu to create a four-part docuseries, THANK YOU, GOODNIGHT: THE BON JOVI STORY,” Fox News reported.

The series premieres Friday, April 26, according to a press release.

The group is also celebrating by releasing a new single.

“BON JOVI, Grammy Award®-winning, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band, and one of history’s most iconic acts, continues their 40th anniversary celebration, with the release of ‘Legendary,’ new single + video out now via Island Records. The monumental new track sets the stage for BON JOVI’s upcoming 16th studio album, FOREVER, arriving on June 7, 2024,” their website states.

Band member Tico Torres reflected on the band’s legacy.

“We’re still here, you know, think about it. We get to create music and, like this new record, it was exciting to do, and the fact that we can reinvent ourselves and say what we have to say from inside together is amazing to be able to do that,” he said. “I mean, there are few bands in the world that do it, but it’s nice to be part of that genre where you can keep going and keep creating. We grew up together. We’re guys from Jersey and we’re family. You know what else we got to do?”

Movieguide® previously reported on Bon Jovi:

Famous rockstar Jon Bon Jovi recently shared with PEOPLE about his 40-year long relationship with his high school sweetheart, Dorothea Bongiovi.

Longevity in celebrity marriages is increasingly rare.  However, Bon Jovi said that they managed to avoid the traps that come with fame and developed an authentic relationship. He also shared the secret ingredient to such a long-lasting marriage.

“Mutual respect,” Bon Jovi told PEOPLE. “Having grown up together and grown together. And we really like each other. We want to hang out.”

The “Livin’ on a Prayer” and “Wanted Dead or Alive” singer said that his relationship with his family always comes before his music career.

“We work hard at it, but we enjoy each other and we never fell for the trappings of what celebrity can do,” Bon Jovi continued. “We’ve witnessed that happen over the years to people that were close to us and people that we knew from afar. It’s just what I do; it’s not who I am. I write songs. I happen to be very good at performing them. That’s it.”
