After the competition, Douglas shared a video of one of her highest scores on the vault.

“8 years later…. Well guys… It wasn’t my best showing this weekend but I was so happy and grateful to be back out there on the floor doing what I love again,” she wrote. “With anything there are always kinks to work out, get better and improve. I’ve never been more excited to get back into the gym and work even harder. Forever grateful for all of your love and support. it means the world. I love you guys and I’ll see you in Hartford ?.”

“Hard days are the best because that’s when champions are made,” she concluded.

In an interview with NBS Sports, Douglas discussed her mindset as she prepares for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

“I’ve been taking one day at a time. I’m honestly super excited to back out there,” she said.

If Douglas qualifies, she would be the “oldest American woman to compete in gymnastics since the ’50s.”

“I’m super grateful to my body to be able to hold up this sport,” she said.

Douglas concluded the interview with a piece of advice for everyone watching.

“If you truly love what you do, then go for it,” she urged.

Gabby Douglas, a three-time Olympic gold medalist, announced her return to the sport and hinted at the possibility of competing in the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics.

“Hey guys long time no post,” Douglas wrote. “As you all know I stepped back from the socials and in that time I did a lot of journaling, reflecting, soul search and found myself back where it all began.

“It’s so easy to suppress and run away from facing darkness and fears,” she continued. “For many years, I’ve had an ache in my heart but I didn’t want to keep carrying anger, pain, sadness, or regret and through my tears and hurt, I’ve found peace.
