Brandon Lake and KB collaborated on a remix version of “COUNT ‘EM,” a popular song from Lake’s 2023 “Coat of Many Colors” album.

The original version of the song caught the ear of many fans when it first was released, rising to No. 19 on Billboard’s US Hot Christian Songs chart. Lake later revealed that the creation of the song came from an impromptu session that interrupted a break.

“I was at Hank Bently’s house with Jacob Sooter working on the record when we decided to take a break and head out for lunch. Jacob struck a few chords on the Wurlitzer as we’re heading out the door,” Lake told American Songwriter last October. “I quickly was inspired and rattled off a verse idea with a fast cadence.”

“I didn’t think much of it but as we got back from lunch I couldn’t shake the desire to want to write whatever song this would become,” he continued. “A few hours later we had this monster of a song that brags on who God is and all the things I’ve seen him do. I’m grateful for those heavenly interruptions that inspire a song when you least expect it.”

The remix of “COUNT ‘EM” builds on the already powerful song, adding a hip-hop spin.

Lake and KB have collaborated in the past, creating the song “Graves,” which was featured on KB’s 2022 album “His Glory Alone II.” The song was a smash hit.

As Lake continues to work on new music, he is also touring the country with his Tear Off the Roof Tour which features the new music from last year’s album along with his biggest hits.

In an interview with Christian Headlines, singer Brandon Lake shared how his security guards had “an encounter with God” at one of his and Phil Wickham’s concerts, exemplifying the mission behind their music.

“Brandon Lake vividly remembers the night a group of arena security guards accepted Christ during his Summer Worship Nights Tour with Phil Wickham,” Christian Headlines reported on March 22.

“It was 2023, the first year of the tour, and the two singers were on stage in the final moments of a concert, having asked members of the audience to raise their hands if they wanted to ‘start a relationship with Jesus or to rededicate their lives,’” Lake told Christian Headlines. “Suddenly, Lake noticed a commotion in the audience to his left.”

The singers had just been given an invitation call to follow Jesus.

“A line of security guards all raised their hands,” Lake said.
