CeCe Winans Asks the Church to ‘Think About Other People’

Multi-time Grammy award-winning artist CeCe Winans recently discussed how the church can learn to be more inclusive of everyone.
“I think we just have to think about other people, you know,” Winans said in an interview with K-LOVE. “I taught a message not too long ago on the Good Samaritan, and he saw first—he cared—and then he went…We have to ask the Lord to open up our eyes, and because God is about unity, we will not witness the power of God the way we need to witness it until we come together.”
“It doesn’t mean that if you go to church and everybody looks like you that you’re prejudiced or you’re racist, but it does mean that we need to make sure our world looks like the world because that’s how you learn,” she continued.
Winans also offered some advice to those who struggle with not knowing the direction of their life.
“I just encourage people to just give your whole life, your whole plan to him,” she said. “When you submit your plan to him, you really don’t know where you’re going to be, but you know it’s going to be good because he’s over it.”
Lastly, Winans was asked about what her favorite song to sing is.
“I would say probably the signature song is ‘Alabaster Box‘ for me, and it’s one of my favorites because it’s all about worship,” Winans explained. “You know, the woman recognizing who Jesus is, and I know the difference that true worship really makes in a person’s life, and I’ve seen the effect and the impact of that song over years.”
“My husband who has heard me sing it over and over again, it’s like he’s weeping every time he hears it, and it’s just an anointing on that song that really brings people to the place of just being in Jesus,” she added.
She told K-LOVE that she held onto that song for several years before releasing it, waiting on God’s timing.
I focus on whether or not I can deliver it in a way that allows God to flow through it and touch people,” she explained. “I always ask, ‘Lord, how do You want me to present this? Is this the right song? Is this the right song for right now?’”
Winans recently released “More Than This,” a 13-track live album recorded in Nashville.
Forbes reported that Winans invited worship teams from across the country to join the live recording.
“So, we had singers in the audience,” she said, “and not just singers, but people who sing these songs weekly. And I’m just going to tell you, that was a highlight for me. When I heard those voices singing along with me, it was like being in heaven. It made it all so special.”

Last year in 2022, Gospel singer CeCe Winans won yet another Grammy award.
However, the famous singer did not attend the Grammys in Las Vegas, but instead chose to worship God at Liberty University, in Virginia.
“I had already made a commitment to be somewhere else that night,” Winans told Decision magazine.
In 2022, the ‘Goodness of God’ singer was nominated in three categories, but says that she wants her legacy in the music industry to point towards Christ and not her career.
“It’s encouraging to be recognized by your peers, but to me, it’s ‘to whom much is given, much is required,’” Winans explained. “Winning 15 Grammys definitely gives you more influence in this industry, and even outside the music industry, and so, my question is always, ‘Lord, what do you want me to do with this influence?’”
