ABC Announces EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION Revival

EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION is being revived by ABC.
“Like the original series, this reimagining will showcase heartwarming stories, inspired volunteers, and mind-blowing builds for deserving families who give back to their communities,” a press release from ABC reads.
The new version of EXTREME MAKEOVER will be hosted by Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin, who are known for their popular lifestyle brand, The Home Edit, as well as their TV show, GET ORGANIZED WITH THE HOME EDIT.
“In each episode of EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION, Shearer and Teplin will meet a deserving family in need of a new home,” ABC’s press release continues. “Leaning into their organizing expertise and unique design aesthetic, the duo will work with each family to evaluate and edit every single item they own, ultimately transforming not only their home but the way they live.”
The release added that “a team of builders and contractors from homebuilder Taylor Morrison” will aid in the renovations.
“This opportunity is one that I may never fully process! Grateful to SO many that have believed in @cleashearer and me!” Teplin wrote in an Instagram post celebrating the news.
Shearer also posted about the announcement, writing, “COMING SOON TO ABC ?????? Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is such an iconic show, and being the new hosts is the honor of a lifetime. Can’t wait to move that bus!”
Endemol Shine North America and Walt Disney Television Alternative will serve as producers on the project, as well as Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine. Shearer and Teplin have worked with Hello Sunshine before; the production company “acquired The Home Edit in the spring of 2022 after producing the Netflix series,” per Deadline.

The show guest-stars a range of people, from Reese Witherspoon to Khloe Kardashian. For each household, Clea and Johanna address a specific area of the house in need of organizing. Guests request help in all different rooms: bedroom, playroom, pantry, garage, etc. Within a few days, Clea and Johanna implement their “rainbow method” to transform these spaces from cluttered messes to neat, organized spaces.
