Willie Robertson Says His Dad’s Testimony Impacts Someone ‘Every Day’

DUCK DYNASTY’s Willie Robertson is reflecting on how a single conversation changed the trajectory of his family’s story.

THE BLIND, a biopic of Robertson’s father Phil, tells the story of how he turned his life around after finding faith through an Arkansas pastor who shared the gospel with him. The movie made Robertson think about how one event changed everything for his family.

“After we came out with THE BLIND last year about Phil and Kay’s life, I thought, ‘What if that hadn’t happened? What if that guy didn’t go up there and preach the Gospel out of fear?” he explained

Robertson pointed out that, without the intercession of one man, everything would have been different.

“Dad had not become a Christian,” he said. “He’d already kicked us out, so we knew where it was headed. It was heading towards divorce for sure, split up family. When you take that out of the mix, there would have been no Duck Commander, there would have been no company, there would have been no DUCK DYNASTY. I don’t even know if I would be a believer today.”

Robertson continued, “Every day of my life, someone has been impacted by what happened 50 years ago. Because of what was able to come out of that, when you start thinking about the television show that reached hundreds of millions of people, still does every day…all the books, the movies, the podcast, all the things that have pointed people in some way to the Gospel, to the light, I can trace all that back.”

Movieguide® previously reported on the impact finding faith has had on the Robertsons and millions of others:

Willie Robertson is sharing the impact THE BLIND has had on audiences and details about his latest book, “Gospeler: Turning Darkness into Light One Conversation at a Time.”

“I think the message that [THE BLIND] puts out is a message that needs to be out…for marriages and the gospel and what God can do, how to change someone’s life—it’s all in there,” Robertson toldMovieguide®.

He continued, “I think in Christianity, and probably generally in life, we’re always like, ‘Hey, your past is behind you, and we’re looking ahead,’ unless they make a movie about it, and then we just live there, in the worst season of your life. But I think Dad knew as we talked to him about it that it was important to see where he was, and man, we have gotten so much feedback from people and how it’s helped them.”

Robertson pointed to the impact of the family’s other projects, from books and podcasts to ending each episode of DUCK DYNASTY with a prayer.

“Hundreds of millions of people all around the world have been touched, and I can trace all that back to one conversion of two people in South Arkansas,” he said.

Now, Robertson wants to help others change their lives the way his family’s lives were changed through his new book, “Gospeler: Turning Darkness into Light One Conversation at a Time.”

“I am a Gospeler, and I want you to be one too,” he told readers, explaining that a gospeler is someone who “zealously teaches or professes faith in the Gospel.”

He continued, “We’re supposed to be ambassadors for Him and representatives of Him. His Spirit lives within us. Even if you don’t think you can, well, I know the Spirit Who lives in you can.”

In an Instagram post about “Gospeler,” Robertson emphasized this message of sharing faith, writing, “The world needs the Gospel now more than ever. People are looking for answers and looking for hope. We have that as believers and it’s time to share it with others.”
