Candace Cameron Bure Shares Throwback Photo of Second Date With Husband

Candace Cameron Bure and her husband, Valeri, have been married for 28 years and still love each other just as much as when they first married.
In a Q&A Bure hosted on Instagram, she shared a little about how she and Valeri connected, revealing that they met “at a charity hockey game in L.A.”
She shared a photo of her and Valeri on their second date.
“This picture was our 2nd date — six months after our first, taken in Fredericton, New Brunswick,” she wrote on her Instagram Story. “We talked on the phone in between that time because we lived in different states.”
The couple were introduced by Bure’s FULL HOUSE co-star David Coulier when he invited the cast to the hockey game.
“I went with Lori Loughlin and we sat there and were looking at these two really cute boys — two cute men, I guess — on the ice, and I was like, ‘I want to meet that one, the blonde one,’ which was Val. And that was it,” she said.
In 2018, Bure shared the same photo and wrote, “Happy 22nd Anniversary my love. There really is something special about growing old together. I love you even more today than I did on our wedding day simply because I KNOW you, 24 years in the making.”
“We’ve refined each other which only happens through sifting out the ugly to get to the beautiful,” the actress continued. “And while I don’t want the years to rush by, I’m looking forward to many more wrinkles and gray hair together. Because by then, only through your eyes will you still see me without them.”
Bure credits “the grace of God” for their long-lasting marriage.
“Above all, we just want what’s best for each other,” she told Us. “We want to do everything we can to stay together. And a lot of times it just means being selfless and putting your sense of control aside and going, ‘How do we work on this together?’ There’s a lot of humility in marriage, let’s just say that. You’ve got to put your pride aside.”
28 years later, the couple has built a beautiful life together and share three kids: Natasha, 25, Lev, 24, and Maksim, 22.

Although Bure confessed that their marriage is not perfect, she trusts that God has deepened their relationship with one another over the years.
“I’m often asked for marriage advice. What’s the secret? Lord knows I will never write a book about it because we are still learning every year, every day,” Bure said. “Grace. Grace. Grace. Communication (which is so important but difficult when one partner isn’t willing.) Sex. Laughter. Patience. Lots of patience. Love (a verb. which must be put into action, it’s not just a feeling).”
She added: “No marriage is picture perfect. Not one. And certainly not ours. But through thick and thin, ups and downs, God has blessed us tremendously with guidance and perseverance. I believe God is the secret sauce. I have more love for this man today than the day we married each other… And I know he does for me. Praise the Lord.”
