More Detail:

THE STORY OF GOD episode “Apocalypse” follows Morgan Freeman as he investigates different religious views about the end times. He travels all over the world, looking at Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, and the ancient Mayans. He even examines what psychology says about how the brain reacts when it anticipates pain.

THE STORY OF GOD episode “Apocalypse” is a mixed bag. Interestingly, it explores historical evidence showing that Nero is the Beast discussed in the Book of Revelation. Also, the final story of the episode is about a pastor and his wife in New Orleans who saw the destruction of their city from hurricane Katrina not as a judgment from God, but as an opportunity to reach more people with the Gospel. However, even with these positive Christian moments, Morgan Freeman tries to insert his Buddhist belief system, even in the middle of interviewing the pastor. The syncretism is heavy, and the intellectual depth is waning in the “Apocalypse” episode. This, and some brief footage of violence, warrants caution for older children.
