God Used Lecrae’s ‘Awkward’ Prayer to Encourage Thousands
By Movieguide® Contributor
Christian artist Lecrae recently took to Instagram to encourage his followers to be obedient to God.
He began by sharing a personal testimony.
“A few nights ago, I was struggling with anxiety, and I started watching YouTube videos of other people’s struggle. My heart broke and I felt led to post a video on TikTok and encourage and pray for folks,” Lecrae began.
The rapper explained how even though he felt his post would be awkward and cheesy, he obeyed God and posted it anyway.

“I did it awkwardly. Thinking maybe there is a specific person that needs that. I was worried about people thinking it was performative or insincere. God was like ‘shut up’ and post. Well, 200k views later (I was thinking it would be 2k) God has shown up in lives based on the comments.”
Lecrae concluded his post by urging people to be faithful to what God calls them to do, even if it doesn’t make sense.
“All that to say just be faithful. Don’t worry about results or fear of man. We’re always counting the seeds in the fruit… but God counts the fruit in the seeds.”
Instagram users responded to the post positively.
“This is real. Thank you for your transparency vulnerability and REALNESS ?️??” one person said.
Another person chimed in, “I also thought those videos were corny, but you are changing my mind. If God says He wants you to do something it’s a must to do it, corny or not.”
Lecrae believes in the power of prayer, whether on TikTok or elsewhere. Movieguide® previously reported on his thoughts on the importance of prayer:
“Prayer is everything,” he said in an interview with The Christian Post. “I’m a firm believer that God is near the brokenhearted. So when you’re going through tough times, God is near. I have a little model of the temple that existed in Israel. And I have [it] because it’s a reminder that this is how serious the believers in God took their faith that they would build this temple, and they believed His presence was felt in this temple.
“For me now, knowing that I’m the temple and the Spirit of God lives in me, I can access God at any given moment. It’s a massive thing,” Lecrae continued. “That’s been huge for me. Being able to do that is massive. So prayer is super important.”
Lecrae is working on a new album, one that he believes will give “people hope because it tells the whole story.”
“A lot of times, we hide our scars because we don’t want people to know we have flaws. But if I show off my scars, people can know healing is possible. This is the album of healing,” he told REVOLT. “People can see I’ve been through some serious stuff, but I’m healing. I want people to see that healing process.”
He also attended the BET Awards over the weekend but kept God as his focus.
“Don’t confuse fame for success. Success is not what you do compared to them…it’s what you do compared to what God created you for,” he posted on Instagram.
