Rising Country Star’s Dad Inspires Him to Help Families in Need

New country sensation Kameron Marlowe came on Fox News to talk about his new album, “Keepin’ the Lights On,” and donating ticket sales to families in need.

“Basically, the whole idea behind this album, it all kind of stemmed from this song, ‘Keepin’ the Lights On,’ and it came from a conversation I had with my dad where he was sitting on the back porch one day and he had just lost his job,” the singer explained last week. “And he worked at the same factory for about 20 years.”

“And when that factory shut down, I kind of had to go home and talk to him a little bit. And he was like, ‘Son, for the first time, I don’t know if I’m gonna be able to keep the lights on,’” Marlowe recalled.

Now, his dad works at a new place, but what he said left an impression on the singer.

“And that just struck me…but we wanted to start a foundation that basically, whether its buying groceries or putting food on the plate for somebody, that’s what this funds for, so if anybody needs help, we can hopefully shine a light for ‘em.”

Marlowe takes $1 from every ticket sale to his concerts to put toward his foundation, Keeping the Lights On.

On Instagram, Marlowe posted about the origin of “Keepin’ the Lights On:”

A job that one never thought he’d lose shut down after 20 years in business, leaving the thought of “now what?”

No matter how hard this life may be, dig deep and find that passion that keeps you going.

For me these past two years were full of struggle, lots of highs but a lot of lows too. Through all of that, I also found love, happiness and a better understanding on who I am

. Through the loss you will find love,
Through the struggle you will persevere. Through the sadness you will find light
. The days you want to quit, don’t.

Never in a million years did I think a small town boy from Kannapolis, North Carolina would be singing every night and people would actually care enough to listen but they do.

We all need someone to lean on and every single day I thank God for this life because heaven knows it ain’t easy keepin’ them ends tied but hey we’re keepin’ the lights on.

Marlowe was raised in a Christian home and served as a worship leader at Elevation Church.

About his new fame, Marlowe said, “It has been such a whirlwind but it has been the best thing in the world. I wouldn’t trade this life for anything. I am so thankful for people that have listened to my songs, found me on the radio, found me on some streaming service or some sort. I’m just thankful. I have no idea.”

Movieguide® recently reported on another country artist who donated concert funds to those in need:

Christian country music singer Carrie Underwood recently raised $420,000 for a cause she is passionate about—helping veterans have homes.

“I’m so proud of the fans that came out to the tour and making this donation possible,” Underwood said. “They have always shown up to support great organizations like Tunnel to Towers, making the world a better place while coming out to see us.”

Underwood donated $1 for every ticket purchased for her Denim & Rhinestones Tour. The funds went to the Tunnel Towers Foundation, an organization that provides mortgage-free homes to injured veterans and first responders with families.
