Willie Robertson Says DUCK DYNASTY Success Stifled His ‘Fire’ for God

After feeling like his time on DUCK DYNASTY disqualified him from sharing the Gospel, Willie Robertson came to realize God will use anyone who is willing and is now equipping others to follow in his footsteps through his new book Gospeler.

“I feel like one of the main things that stops us from sharing our faith is when we fall short and we really blow it…” Robertson told THE 700 CLUB. “I think a lot of us feel that [we blew it]. Even when writing this book, I had to contemplate that and go like, ‘Am I the one the write something like this?’ Because I did [blow it].”

With the success of DUCK DYNASTY, Robertson was given incredible opportunities, however, he now recognizes that this success also pulled him away from the Lord.

“With DUCK DYNASTY, there was a lot of stuff going on and a lot, you know. I talk about how we slowly move away from our fire that’s burning, you know, the raging fire that we have in our soul. And it had gotten down to like coals,” he explained.

To reignite those coals, he returned to his most basic calling in his life: to share the Gospel. With his fire for Christ stronger than ever, Willie is now helping others understand why being an ambassador for Christ is so important.

“Jesus, you know, His Great Commission, you know, was make disciples, baptize people and teach people,” Robertson said. “I find that there’s a lot of Christians that are nowhere near those three. There’s a lot of people who stop at the baptism point, you know. They’ve said the prayer, they’ve done the baptism, but the making disciples, that’s an ongoing journey. A lot of people may not have heard that that’s part of the deal: to continue to go share your faith. And I make the case, what if it’s the whole deal?”

Unfortunately, many people who know they are supposed to be bold in sharing their faith disqualify themselves because they don’t know how to do it. While helping people understand sharing their faith is part of the Christian walk, Willie is also equipping them to be able to do so in an effective manner.

“I put a lot of stories from people that I’ve shared with. I kind of give people a little like, here’s the way to do it, because that’s where a lot of people felt like ‘I don’t know where to start. I don’t know the Bible well enough,’” Willie said. “It’s almost like we disqualify ourselves, or ‘I’ve been too bad. I’m the last person to tell someone else how to live their life.’”

“So I talk about where we do start because I think people are very intimidated by that and ‘What if this person doesn’t receive it well?’ and ‘How do I begin in a way that isn’t off putting?’ You know,” he continued. “Those are the little techniques that I talk about how we ask each other normal questions. I think sometimes we overthink this and think we’ve got to know every answer and we don’t. We can just start that [normal] conversation.”

Robertson’s book Gospeler is now available.

“The world needs the Gospel now more than ever,” he said of the book on Instagram. “People are looking for answers and looking for hope. We have that as believers and it’s time to share it with others.”

Robertson is adamant that the truth of the Gospel can be spread anywhere.

“Even if you’re at the deadest church in whatever little dead town you’re in, you can create revival right there,” Robertson said. “Just get out and start doing it. You can start with the people…your family, your friends, your kids.”

Robertson encourages others to share the Gospel through many mediums: interviews, sermons and now in his new book, “Gospeler: Turning Darkness into Light One Conversation at a Time.”

“In it, Robertson encourages people to share their faith with others in transformational, one-on-one conversations,” Faithwire reported.
