Ohio State Football Team Transforms Campus for Christ
By Movieguide® Contributor
The Ohio State Football Team is on a mission to give God all the glory.
Per Sports Spectrum, “On Sunday evening, a number of current Ohio State players held a faith event on campus, organized by former receiver Kamryn Babb and attended by both OSU students and others from around the United States. The Lantern, Ohio State’s independent student newspaper, reported that the event was made possible through a collaboration of a number of local Christian churches in the Columbus area.”

That event included baptisms, prayer, worship and several testimonies from players, and over 2,000 people attended.
At the start of the event, Babb told the crowd, “I just encourage you to step out in faith. Whatever you’re going through in life — whatever you’ve been through — I’m telling you there’s a God that desires you. So as we get into this worship, as we get into everything, we pray that you would see Him as He sees you. So as we get into this night, let’s give Him the glory.”

The Lantern, an “independent student voice of The Ohio State University since 1881,” shared on X that those who organized the event came with 10,000 Bibles to hand out to anyone who wanted one.

One of the players who gave their testimony that night was wide receiver Emeka Egbuka.
“The world didn’t give me this joy, the world can’t take it away. I had this new feeling in my heart that the Holy Spirit implanted into me,” Egbuka said. “And so since then, it was really a radical change for me. I started walking more obediently with God. I started seeking Him day after day. He’s worked on me, and I’ve had this grace of people in my life to get to this point.”
Running back TreVeyon Henderson told the crowd, “Jesus changed my life, set me free from my sin, made me holy, made me righteous. I’m only righteous because of what the Lord has done for me. It wasn’t anything I did, it was Jesus. It was Jesus. And He wants to do the same for you.”
“[Jesus] died for each and every single one of us. God showed His love for us on the cross,” Henderson said later on. “The blood that He shed. He says, ‘By His stripes we are healed.’”
Movieguide® previously reported on the Ohio State football team:
Several Ohio State football players arrived at fall camp giving glory to God.
Team members sported shirts with faith-based slogans including “Follow Jesus,” “Jesus Won,” “Jesus Saves,” “God Got Me” and “Just Here To Give God Glory” as they moved in for training…
This move comes after Ohio’s tight end Gee Scott preached at a local church and shared the work God was doing on his team…
Scott and his teammate, TreVeyon Henderson, want their fans to spread Jesus’ love too.
“Jesus died on the cross and shed His blood to pay the price for our sins so our sins can be forgiven and we can be made right with God, and three days later he rose, overcoming the power of sin that leads to eternal death, so we can receive eternal life and enter the Kingdom of Heaven!” they declared, quoting John 16:33.
