You Have to See Celine Dion’s Epic Return in NFL Promo

Celine Dion just made another step in her comeback in a recent NBC/Peacock promo for SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL.

The promo begins with a few notes from Dion’s “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now.” Then, the singer appears, sporting a vintage Cowboys versus Steelers sweatshirt, setting the stage for the match between the teams that occurred last Sunday.

“I think my favorite thing about this game is its power to connect who we are, to who we were,” Dion said in the promo. “To prove that our most powerful memories, our most enduring loves, can stay with us forever. You know what I’m talking about, right? Sometimes, some nights, it all just comes back.”

“Their love affair, well maybe not love the way I usually sing about it,” she added. “But still, work with me here. I mean, ‘When you touch me like this, When you hold me like that’ …it kind of fits, no?

“But really, what beautiful passion it produced. What painful heartbreak it revealed. So, so long ago,” the Grammy award winner continued. “Like so many old flames, it always feels right when they’re back together, don’t you think? Like tonight, evoking the kind of magic they once produced. The Cowboys and the Steelers, a timeless classic on Sunday night.”

The commercial ended with Dion being “doused with Gatorade,” Variety reported.

Dion has been publicly battling Stiff Person Syndrome since announcing her diagnosis in 2022. Movieguide® reported:

“She works so hard, but she doesn’t have control of her muscles,” Dion’s sister Claudette told 7Jours. “What pains me is that she has always been disciplined. She always worked hard. Mom always told her, ‘You’re going to do this right, you’re going to do this right…’”

Dion shared her diagnosis in December 2022 after suffering from muscle spasms, including in her vocal cords, that debilitated her.

According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, “stiff person syndrome is a rare neurological disorder.” Symptoms of the progressive condition include “stiff muscles in the torso, arms and legs,” as well as “muscle spasms that may be triggered by noises, touch or emotional distress.” The disease is extremely rare, making it difficult for the singer to find adequate treatment.

She’s worked hard on returning to the stage and made her first comeback with an epic performance at the 2024 Paris Olympic Opening Ceremonies.

“I’m honored to have performed tonight, for the Paris 2024 Opening Ceremony, and so full of joy to be back in one of my very favorite cities!” Dion wrote on X. “Most of all, I’m so happy to be celebrating these amazing athletes, with all their stories of sacrifice and determination, pain and perseverance.”

Fans are hopeful that these smaller performances are stepping stones to Dion’s full return to performing.
