Kirk Cameron Reminds Us Why We Need to Stay Humble

Kirk Cameron and Pastor Rex Holt are warning against the sin of pride, reminding us that God “gives grace to the humble.”
“God does things the opposite of a godless world,” Cameron said in a recent episode of his YouTube series AMERICAN CAMPFIRE REVIVAL. “He turns the whole paradigm upside down and says, ‘If you want to be great, learn to be the servant of all.’”
He continued, “It’s also not only an upside-down strategy but an inside-out strategy. If we want to change the world and bring true and lasting change that creates human flourishing, we’ve got to start, not out there and changing those people, but in here, changing this person.”
Holt agreed, adding, “God hates pride. He resists the proud. He gives grace to the humble. So, inside, we need to be humble people. We need to be humble before the Lord and not proud.”
“That is the prerequisite for turning the world upside down, bringing Heaven to earth — we have to have a new heart that is humble,” Cameron said.
Holt shared that God’s love for us is one of the things that should make us the most humble.
“If I will just look at the cross and see what God and Christ did for me, nothing but grateful praise would flow out, and it humbles proud hearts,” he explained.
Former country star and pastor Granger Smith recently spoke about the importance of humility before God.

Cameron has recently been speaking out about the importance of being politically active, especially as we approach election season.
“[If] the family of faith does not show up and vote their values, well, that just leaves a great big vacuum and others will gladly rush in to fill the void, and then you end up burning the whole thing down from the inside,” he told Fox News. “I believe with all my heart that it is and that God did not create us and rescue us through the Gospel to be cowards, and that we have a birthright of courage, and if we will lean into that courage as people of faith and live out our values and put feet to our faith in love, we can and will realign the nation with Heaven’s values.”
This is a topic Cameron explores in his latest book, Born To Be Brave: How To Be A Part Of America’s Spiritual Comeback.
“What if the present cultural setback is really a divine setup for a spiritual comeback?” a synopsis of the book asks. “Ungodly forces have devastated American culture. The family of faith is feeling intimidated and fearful. Worse, many of us think that nothing can be done about it… that society will inevitably get worse.”
The description continues, “If we’re going to change the nation and the world, we need to move beyond paralyzed outrage and start acting with courage and confidence. God is already on the move, and we can be a part of the big things He is doing. Because we were born to be brave.”
