Ohio State WR Says Peace Only Comes Through Jesus
By Movieguide® Contributor
Ohio State football wide receiver Emeka Egbuka wants everyone to know about the hope and peace he has in Jesus.
“Jesus is the only one who promises peace,” Egbuka told Matt Forte on the “Sports Spectrum Podcast.” “You know, people will promise prosperity. They’ll promise you money. They’ll promise you all these things, but Jesus offers peace. And that’s so rare to come by these days.”
“So, I mean, once you really experienced it for yourself, you really have no choice but to proclaim it to the rest of the world,” he continued. “And you can find a lot of discouragement in trying to do so because people will tear you down. Ultimately, there are haters in every facet of life…But people hated Jesus, and Jesus was perfect. So, if Jesus was perfect and people still hated him, how much more are they going to hate you?”
The athlete is bold in his faith, and it’s making a difference on the Ohio State campus. He shared his testimony at an event attended by 2,000 people earlier this semester.
“The world didn’t give me this joy, the world can’t take it away. I had this new feeling in my heart that the Holy Spirit implanted into me,” Egbuka said at the event. “And so since then, it was really a radical change for me. I started walking more obediently with God. I started seeking Him day after day. He’s worked on me, and I’ve had this grace of people in my life to get to this point.”

Sharing your faith can be scary, but for Egbuka, “it’s just about staying firm on what you believe.”
“[Jesus] said to go out to all the ends of the earth and spread the Good News. So, that’s what we’re called to do at the end of the day,” he added.
“Even though football is not my profession yet, but it will be. Even though football is what I do, it’s not necessarily who I am. And my first time when I read Ephesians, that’s when I kind of got a true perception of who I was, of what my identity is in Christ, that I’m a son of the most high God. And once I read that, people can’t take that away from you,” he concluded.
