Country Star Praises His Wife’s Parenting: ‘Thank God for Her’

Country music star Parker McCollum shared his gratitude for his wife and the mom that she’s become since they had their first child in August.
“She’s the greatest mom in the world,” McCollum told PEOPLE about his wife Hallie Ray. “We just had our first kid, Major, three and a half months ago, and he and I are learning at the same pace. But she already knows everything, so thank God for her.”
The couple’s son, Major, was born on August 8.
Meanwhile, becoming a dad has been a major adjustment for McCollum, and he knows that he would have been clueless about how to parent if it were not for his wife.
“The dad thing has been unbelievable. It’s way more of an adjustment that I anticipated but, you know, if I was on my own doing it, him and I never would have made it,” McCollum said. “But Hallie Ray…that’s been the most impressive thing about having a kids is watching how natural and how good she is at being a mom. She is a literal superhero in our house, so it’s been a blessing.”
As McCollum’s family gears up for their first Christmas with Major, the country music star joked that his mother-in-law is single-handedly fueling the market for gifts for newborns. McCollum, however, wants her to slow down because Major won’t even know what’s going on.
“He ain’t even gonna know it’s Christmas,” he said. “I begged my mother-in-law not to get him any gifts — he’s already got so much stuff. I think she’s cleaned out Amazon for everything they have for newborns. But it’s good.”
Parker and Hallie Ray got married in 2022. Just ahead of their two-year anniversary, the couple announced their pregnancy on social media.
“God’s little blessing. We Iove you so much already, Baby M!” the couple wrote on the announcement post.
