THE KNIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS Stars Share Their Christmas Traditions

The stars of Netflix’s THE KNIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS are sharing their favorite parts of the Christmas holiday.
“I’m a pretty basic girl when it comes to the holidays — decorating the tree and making cookies and watching Christmas movies,” Vanessa Hudgens told Movieguide®.
The former Disney star shared a few of her favorites, including THE GRINCH, THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS, ELF and NATIONAL LAMPOON’S CHRISTMAS VACATION.
Her co-star, Josh Whitehouse, added his own memories of Christmas.
“My mom [is] an artist and she would paint our dining room table with angels and put people’s names around [the table] where the seats are, and we put presents under the chairs,” he said.
The pair were also asked about their thoughts on the popularity of the holiday movie genre.
“It’s complete escapism,” Hudgens explained. “And I think that it’s really special because it’s something you can bring back around every year, and so it creates a sense of nostalgia.”
THE KNIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS tells the story of “a medieval English knight [who] is magically transported to present-day America where he falls for a high school science teacher who is disillusioned by love,” per IMDb.
Hudgens and Whitehouse also talked to The Hollywood Reporter about why they love making Christmas movies.
“Christmas films spread joy and happiness and bring family together at such a festive time,” Whitehouse said. “To be a part of people’s lives and in their homes on their televisions around Christmastime is a really beautiful thing.”
Hudgens, who also served as an executive producer on the movie, added, “It wasn’t the most serious or heavy content matter, so I felt like it was a good, easy fun thing to begin that journey. It was one that I felt very safe in. I loved doing it and being part of the process. Having a bit more to say was a really wonderful thing.”
