By Movieguide® Contributor
After a serious health scare, country star Colt Ford has made some life changes, losing 60 pounds in the process.
Last year, Ford had a heart attack and flatlined twice before undergoing 10-hour surgery and being put on an extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) machine for a week.
“My doctor said, ‘I have no idea how you survived,’” he told PEOPLE.

Now, Ford is doing everything he can to stay healthy, including cutting out beloved junk food items like fried chicken and Mountain Dew.
“I’ve changed everything. If I go by Whataburger, I’ll eat a grilled chicken sandwich. I don’t do all the fries and stuff,” the self-described “terrible eater” explained.
Ford continued, “I’m wearing a 32-inch waist now instead of 44 — but I’ve told everybody there’s much easier diets. I’m looking at it as a blessing. I’m going to be healthier than I’ve ever been.”
“God has more for me to do,” he concluded. “For some reason he saw fit to give me another chance, so I intend to do something positive with it.”

In an interview on the BIG D & BUBBA show, Ford recalled his heart attack, saying he “didn’t even remember” playing a show in Phoenix prior to his collapse.
“I walked back to the bus, texted my fiancée, ‘Hi baby,’ and fell over dead,” he said. “I died two times. Luckily, my band came out to check on me.”
Ford continued, “The Lord had more for me to do, more music for me to make, hopefully more differences to make in some people’s lives.”
The country star is also getting ready to release new music. Single “Hell Out Of It (feat. Michael Ray)” is set to drop February 21.
“I loved this song the moment I heard it, and after everything I’ve been through, it really resonates,” Ford said of the song “I wanted to bring in someone I’m close with, and Michael Ray absolutely nailed it.”
Ray added, “I’m so excited to be a part of this song with my brother Colt Ford. ‘Hell Out Of It’ is an anthem for the small town, blue collar men and women — the ones that work hard and play harder. It’s about that slice of heaven; a map dot place that to some people, might not look like much, but is raised in them — love the hell out of it.”
