Entertainment Journalist Grateful for Prayers as Son Leaves PICU
By Movieguide® Contributor
Entertainment journalist Jason Kennedy asked for prayers for his son, and those prayers have been answered.
Two-year-old Ryver was recently admitted to the pediatric ICU as he fought an infection that had doctors “perplexed.”
“If you could say a prayer for our boy Ryver it would mean a lot,” Kennedy and his wife Lauren Scruggs Kennedy posted a few days ago. “Day 2 in pediatric intensive care, the infection is leaving doctors perplexed and we are hopeful for more answers today. Gutting to see him in this kind of pain.”
The post shows a photo of Ryver sitting in Jason’s lap in the hospital.
Many people commented on the post, agreeing to lift Ryver up in prayer. “Praying so so hard!!!!!” Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson commented. Kourtney Kardashian Barker added, “Prayed for baby boy.”

Yesterday, the couple shared a happy update on their son.
“All clear to recover at home – thank you for praying and sending encouraging messages,” Kennedy shared with a video of Ryver leaving the hospital. “I’ve interviewed every rockstar but none as great as the PICU Doctors and Nurses from Ventura County Medical Center. Angels in my book ❤️”
Vertical Worship’s song “Yes I Will” played in the background of the video.
“You’re so loved and prayed for buddy!” one user commented. Another person said, “So happy to hear this news, your family has been on my heart. ❤️”
Along with Ryver, the Kennedys share daughter Poppy, 1, who arrived in October 2023.
“I’m sure your feed could use some good news today — we wanted to share that our angel, poppy ford kennedy, arrived on 10•10 and she’s giving all of you a big hug right now,” Lauren posted at the time.
