Everything We Know About Season 6 Of ROCK THE BLOCK

By Movieguide® Contributor

The sixth season of HGTV’s ROCK THE BLOCK is on the way!

“Ratings juggernaut ROCK THE BLOCK delivered HGTV’s top series three years in a row and appeals to millions of fans in our key demos,” Betsy Ayala, Interim Head of Content at HGTV, said. “We incorporate a surprise element each season, and this season we’re taking the format to the next level by mixing returning block vets and some first-time contenders to amp up the competition and create some unexpected twists.”

Season 6 will see veterans of the show compete against newbies.

The ROCK THE BLOCK returners include Alison Victoria, Michel Smith Boyd, Jonathan Knight, and Jordan Knight. The rookie team members are DOWN HOME FAB’s Chelsea and Cole DeBoer and RENOVATION ALOHA’s Kamohai and Tristyn Kalama.

“Oohh this is going to be a good season!! Idk who to root for!” one fan commented on an Instagram post announcing the season.

Another wrote, “Yes love Rock the Block!!! A friendly competition never hurt anyone! Lol.”

Ty Pennington will also return as the show’s host.

“I have the best seat in the house to the toughest home renovation competition on television,” Pennington told TV Insider. “And for the first time on ROCK THE BLOCK, returning veteran teams will clash with rookie teams who have something to prove. They’ll test their skills and push their limits for not only bragging rights but, more importantly, to leave a legacy on the block.”

Pennington also revealed that there are some changes on the way. On an Instagram post surrounding the announcement, one fan wrote, “I hope it is more fairly judged this season.”

“There were some changes made. I think you’ll be happy,” the ROCK THE BLOCK host replied

Pennington most recently appeared in NO ADDRESS about the homeless crisis in the United States.

“Every time you see a homeless person look at them, smile, say hello, ask how they’re day is going, make them feel seen and heard,” Pennington told Movieguide® when asked how audiences can make a difference. “More importantly than that, I would say, engage on a local level. I would get involved with Citygate of the Red Cross or the Salvation Army or the rescue missions that are all over the country. Whatever organization is doing the best effective nonprofit work in the homelessness space, I would engage with them.”
