Christians Use This App to Connect With God Before Easter
By Movieguide® Contributor
The Lenten season is among us, and those who participate are finding new ways to connect with God on a deeper level. One decision some are making is to use Hallow’s Pray40 challenge.
Lent began on Ash Wednesday, March 5th this year, and occurs 40 days before Easter.
USA Today shared more about Lent:
Lent has been celebrated by Christians all over the world for centuries. The 64th leader of the Catholic Church, Pope Gregory, set the first official period of Lent in 601 AD, according to the Museum of the Bible. At this time, Lent was 46 days, which allowed for 40 days of fasting − only one meal and no meat was allowed − with six Sundays counted as feast days.
For Hallow’s special prayer challenge for Lent, CEO Alex Jones said, “For us, it’s just about how can we take five, 10 minutes in the morning or at night and just start and close our day away from the noise, finding some peace and spending some time with Jesus?”
He also noted how Hallow is a new way to reach people through their phones.
“This question of how do you share about Jesus with people in today’s world — but that question, really, it comes down to reaching out to people where they are, and whether we like it or not, where people are today is in their phones,” Jones continued. “So, how do we reach out to them? We have to try to get them to stop scrolling in some feed for half a second, and we have to use that as an opportunity to try to invite them to take five, 10 minutes in silence and to grow deeper in relationship with the Lord.”
“As we meditate on the lives of those who follow Christ, we’ll see that despite the noise and distraction of today, Jesus died on the cross so that we might experience His love, His peace, and, ultimately, eternal life. We need only to follow His Way,” the Hallow website says about the Pray40 Challlenge.

Movieguide® previously reported on several actors who have partnered with Hallow for Lent:
Chris Pratt, Mark Wahlberg and Jonathan Roumie are teaming up for the Hallow app’s upcoming prayer challenge. ‘This Lent, Hallow will once again launch its Lent Pray40 prayer challenge, beginning on Ash Wednesday,’ the app’s website reads. ‘Drawing on the incredible writings of St. Josemaría Escrivá, author of ‘The Way,’ we’ll follow Jesus into deeper faith every day this Lent.’ The site continued, ‘As we meditate on the lives of those who follow Christ, we’ll see that despite the noise and distraction of today, Jesus died on the cross so that we might experience His love, His peace, and, ultimately, eternal life. We need only to follow His Way.
