What You Need To Know:

GABBY’S DOLLHOUSE is a children’s series on Netflix about a young teenage girl named Gabby who loves cats. Each episode, she receives a delivery from the “Meow-Meow Mailbox,” and then shrinks down to dollhouse size in animated form. Gabby then interacts with all the cat-themed characters and happenings in the dollhouse. In Episode One of Season 11, Gabby and her friend, Pandy, with help from CatRat, take care of the cat babies in the dollhouse. In Episode Two, they help one of the babies celebrate his first tooth. In Episode Three, Gabby and her friends celebrate Kitty-tine’s Day, Gabby’s version of Valentine’s Day.

The first three episodes of GABBY’S DOLLHOUSE: Season 11 are fun, adorable and interactive. However, the third episode is the best. At the end, Gabby sings to her friends about friendship. Her song celebrates spending time together, bringing out the best in each other, sharing, playing together, singing together, making crafts together, and loving one another. GABBY’S DOLLHOUSE, however, has some magical elements. All three episodes, for example, include visits from Kitty Fairy, who has magical abilities.

Foul Language:
No foul language, but some talk of “tushies” and diaper changes (kitty cupcake baby wrappers serve as the diapers for four cupcake kitties and two of the baby wrappers with little brown doo-doos in them in Episode 11.1 are tossed into a diaper dispensary), plus two characters sing a song in Episode 11.1 to encourage baby characters to burp after they’ve just had their milk bottles;

More Detail:

GABBY’S DOLLHOUSE is a children’s series about a young teenage girl named Gabby who loves cats. Each episode, she receives a delivery from the “Meow-Meow Mailbox,” and then shrinks down to dollhouse size in animated form. There, she interacts with all of the cat-themed characters and happenings in the dollhouse.

GABBY’S DOLLHOUSE is lively and interactive, full of bright colors and creative elements. Each episode is also interactive, showing young viewers how to make fun crafts or sometimes play little games such as picking out colors. Overall, the series has a moral worldview with characters working together to solve tasks and helping each other. However, there are some fictional magical elements, including a Kitty Fairy who has a magical garden and makes things magically appear.

The first three episodes of Season 11 show Gabby and her friends taking care of the cat babies in the dollhouse, celebrating a new tooth one of the babies just got and celebrating Kitty-tine’s Day, which is what Gaby and her stuffed cat toy, Pandy, call Valentines Day.

Episode One of Season 11 begins with Gabby and Pandy shrinking down into the dollhouse and visiting the new room in the dollhouse, the “Kitty Care Ear,” which is essentially a nursery for all the babies in the dollhouse. The babies begin to arrive, and Gabby, Pandy and her friend CatRat take care of them. At one point the baby cupcakes need a diaper change, so Pandy changes their “wrappers,” with help from MerCat. The moment turns educational when viewers need to help match the baby cupcake wrappers to their sprinkle patterns.

Later, Gabby takes two of the babies to the magical garden with Kitty Fairy to play peek-a-boo. There, Kitty Fairy magically creates a wall of flowers for one of the babies to hide. Meanwhile, CatRat visits DJ Catnip’s music room, where they sing a song to encourage two babies to burp. The babies then take their naps while Gabby sings a lullaby (this is a good time for parents and grandparents to encourage their young viewers to also take a nap; in fact, MOVIEGUIDE® dares parents not to nod off themselves while hearing Gabby’s pretty lullaby).

Episode Two begins with Gabby getting a delivery from her Meow-Meow mailbox. It is a decorated tooth-themed box with a photo album inside. Gabby realizes someone in the dollhouse must have gotten their first tooth. She shrinks down into the dollhouse and learns baby Baby Benny Box has a new tooth. All the Gabby-cats celebrate him by making a special snack, letting him choose a new toothbrush, and make a special craft. Fairy Kitty then comes to celebrate him and share a snack. She also helps Baby Benny Box create a glass holder for his new toothbrush.

Episode Three of Season 11 is a Valentine’s Day episode. Gabby receives an invitation to the “Kitty-tine’s” Day party in the dollhouse. As Gaby explains in the opening, Kitty-tine’s Day is what she and Pandy, her stiffed cat toy, call Valentine’s Day. Gabby shrinks into the dollhouse, where she’s greeted with a “hug attack” from the animated Pandy. DJ Catnip then has Gabby and Pandy create a song on the “Zylo sofa” with their “tushies,” where they sit on an instrumental couch to make music. They practice rhyming lyrics as they create music. They also make a kitty heart craft with Baby Box. They then go to the Kitty Fairy’s magical garden to smell flowers and choose the flowers that smell best. A pool party closes out the episode, with Gabby singing a song about friendship.

The first three episodes of GABBY’S DOLLHOUSE: Season 11 have the same winsome, adorable characters and storytelling as most other DOLLHOUSE episodes. Doing different craft projects is a major part of all the episodes. The first episode focuses on taking care of babies. The second episode celebrates a major event in many infant children’s lives, their first tooth. It also promotes brushing one’s teeth. The third episode is the strongest, because it overtly celebrates the friendships that Gabby cultivates when she visits the dollhouse.

Thus, at the end, Gabby sings a song celebrating friendship. During the song, she names multiple values that strong friendships generate. These values include spending time together, bringing out the best in each other, sharing, being “friends forever,” playing together, singing together, making crafts together, and taking care of babies together. The song also celebrates love, which is symbolized by all the hugs that Gabby and her friend share together in the episodes, especially the third episode.

In fact, Gabby’s best friend, Pandy, loves to surprise Gabby with a “hug attack” whenever they visit the dollhouse. Outside the dollhouse, Pandy is just an inanimate stuffed cat toy with black and white colors, like a panda. However, inside the dollhouse, Pandy becomes a talking, animated cat creature.
